I have no love for the Pope, but the woman wasn't letting go, which usually falls into the category of assault when there's no consent (#MeToo)...which there obviously wasn't.

And I hope you didn't fall for that fake, but funny, Trump video, but again, bias can do that.

I thought it might be fake due to the pinky action and white sleeve showing. Besides, he’s more of a grab the [*#$@!] kind of guy. Big Grin

It’s been a long tradition to take the pope’s hand but apparently this one is a bit of germophobe.

Not to change the topic, but there have been some um...er...interesting new members that have joined the cast of characters on SF. I sometimes wonder if they're any of you, messing with the forum. lol The thread topics are hilarious.

C'mon, you can tell me. Big Grin

Syne, before you go all out and reply to my post with a long winded defense of the RCC, it's all good. Think as you wish. I posted my thoughts, and don't care to get into a debate over them. It's a topic that's been beaten to death, and I believe the RCC to be a false, man-made religion. You won't change my mind.

Not me but it sounds fun. Maybe we could cook something up, eh? Wink

I don't give a crap about the Catholic church.

They are blasphemous in how they distort the Bible and the sex abuse scandal cover ups travel all the way to the Papacy. Jesus said “you’ll know them by their fruits,” He was talking about prophets and representatives of Christianity. I think we can see that the RCC’s “fruits” are pretty rotten, overall. You can defend them, but I would have to ask why?

Recently, they came out with a new way of handling sexual assault and misconduct allegations. Clergy and others working within the Church, can now go directly to the proper legal authorities to report alleged abuse. (Hard to believe they actually needed to be told the right way to handle crimes against children, but ...)

But, the one catch is confession. The RCC is still standing by a priest's ''right'' to privacy if he confesses to another priest in confession, that he committed a crime, of any type. It is sickening to me.

I find this organization to be corrupt and it distorts Bible Scripture to get a pass for their hypocrisy and blatant disregard for others.

It's not about holding them to their own standards, it's about holding you to your own. If you think it's okay to grope someone without their consent, that applies across the board. Saying what amounts to "she was asking for it" or "she deserved it" just because you think he's done wrong is two wrongs not making a right. Be better. Personally, I'm not one to judge that a thieving prostitute deserves to be raped, no more than I'm the one to judge that a bad priest deserves to be either. Vengeance is not justice.

Why are you talking about vengeance? I’m not discussing vengeance. I don’t believe in it but we all reap what we sow.
There ain't nothing like a nice plate full of vengeance to help a person get over a thing.

You judge everyday Syne. You judge in politics, when it comes to social justice, and others areas of life. We all do. I don’t judge to condemn, I judge for myself. And I try to align my outlook to what the Bible states on different topics. But, we are all sinners, that’s just it. People see the Pope as god-like. This Pope slapping a woman’s hand is just interesting considering he has promoted known pedophiles up the ranks of the Church. He at least was able to defend himself.

I will judge his actions, as an organization to stay away from. That’s where my discerning begins and ends.

If more people stopped viewing Popes and the clergy as anything other than mere mortals, maybe more kids would have been spared. It’s a fraud not because of this one pope, but how complicit others have been in the crimes of the RCC. That happens when a church becomes too powerful.
You wouldn't feel the need to justify yourself with a hypocrisy fallacy (tu quoque) unless somewhere, deep inside, you knew that justifying anyone violating the consent of another, for any reason, is wrong. I judge all the time, but I never violate my own moral principles in doing so. I can say what I see as wrong, but it's not for me to justify what ill befalls another outside of the law.

That's right, you don't like ugly mirrors.
I'm sorry Leigha - I do rely on you for little bursts of sunshine - I'm really sorry I don't give anything back. I loved your Happy New Year post but there's just a thing in me that stopped me echoing it. If I liked many or even some of the people posting here I'd probably have done it. I'm English - I can't admit to things like liking people - we don't do that. What would the people we didn't like think? The dark side is strong within me .. I have to stop before I incriminate myself further.
No one is talking vengeance but you. He shouldn’t have slapped her. She was clearly excited to see the Pope, she wasn’t trying to hurt him. Not sure why you are talking about vengeance.

You know what, confused? I’ve always thought you’re a positive one on here. A realist and your stories are refreshing. You bring sunshine in your own way, me thinks. Heart
