I'm not sure I like the idea of waiting to hear something unexpected or unusual...so, maybe ghost hunting isn't for me.

that ended quickly
irony that we are exiting the meta data era
maybe you could record pixies & fairy's in the wild instead of creaky old floor boards in a broom closet
hahaha That would be something.
I haven't given up yet, this thing came with a USB cable and I'm going to plug it into my laptop later to see what types of frequency settings it has. A guy on SF suggested this, so it's worth a try. He's skeptical that a device so cheap would be able to pick up super low frequency sounds.

It helps if you get someone to whisper stuff.

Okay, not sure if you're serious, but...that's a good idea.

Just make sure they whisper something creepy or enigmatic.
I just finished up with a longgg conference call and now I'm freeee!
Happy Friday

How is the recording going? Have you tried a ghost recorder?

haha I recorded just a few minutes of ''silence,'' to see what it might pick up. Sadly, playing it back scared me.
I'm so weak.
I still need to hook the USB cord to the laptop to see the ''frequencies,'' because someone on SF claimed that if my recorder is cheap then it probably won't pick up many sounds in the low frequency range.
This really belongs in the paranormal section but I don't see me posting it there and linking to it so I'll post it here.
I was about 6 years old. So not a very good witness but I know what I saw. I was in bed at the time. Allowing for scale (me being smaller then) I'd say the little fellow at the foot of my bed would have been about 18 inches tall if he'd stood up straight. He was at the foot of the bed just kind'a being there. I was wide awake at the time. Close eyes - open eyes - still there. Certainly not a normal entity - the movements flickered somewhat but the thing was stable for (I'd guess) a few minutes. I don't think my family culture would have included anything remotely gnome, pixie or elf so this was coming from wherever those things come from. At school we had to pray (to God?) and at about the same time I had challenged God to show himself (he didn't) - maybe this was payback. They say memories aren't actually the memory - they are (at best) a memory of a memory of a memory. For many years one of my party tricks was to play back conversations from either the present or the distant past - word for word. When challenged "Are you listening to me?" - not 'listening' as such but I could repeat exactly what had been said. I am absolutely convinced (perhaps foolishly) that the images I can recall now are accurate representations of what I saw then.
