This one particular member who posts much of this crap as of late, is an avid Trump supporter. lol One would think he'd have been sent off to banned camp long ago. Oh well.
There seem to be many Trump converts (former Dems) who relish being transgressive...perhaps after living under the boot of leftist PC culture. But then, leftist are the first to use racist, sexist insults, so long as it's against those on the right. So maybe the transgression just finds new targets.
So, thought I'd post the continuation of things, by sharing a part of the thread where one of the guys I've mentioned, replies to my post.

You know, it's weird, I've been noticing this type of guy on forums, or in comment sections of youtube videos, etc...who always feel the need to demean women or post sexual comments about women. It's as though they can't have a conversation, offline or online without reverting to something sexual, and it's usually something strange. Then, when they get called out by others, they back it up by calling it all a 'joke.' This guy doesn't solely post stuff like this, but it pops up randomly, every week, it seems.

I was going to reply further, but not sure of the point. James pm'd me that he messaged him to stop posting the types of things he's posting.

I guess what is a head scratcher is why are you posting this crap on a science forum? There are a plethora of red pill/women hating sites out there to post your bs...why a science forum?

The men that I've associated with in my life, for the most part, respect women, so perhaps this is so foreign to me...to see a guy posting vulgar videos and jokes about rape.  Rolleyes

Just a thought or two about this.
I am reminded of myself and rats. I'd guess a  fair proportion of my posts here have involved rats .. so why? Self analysis follows. I am aware that not everybody shares my attitude to rats (not bothered by 'em) but I still feel feel a bit guilty about the social unnacceptability of them. Posting about my rats is a sort of guilt therapy. Every time someone doesn't go "Ooo yucky rats." I get to feel slightly less guilty. Compare and contrast odd somewhat obsessive and innapropriate posts about rape and molestation.

Wait, are you talking about this? http://sciforums.com/members/bowser.1302...post-22030

If not, I really can't judge without an actual quote. Many people find offense where there is none.

That and he recently posted a video that was ridiculously vulgar about women. He posts other sexist comments sporadically so imo, it’s a tone that shouldn’t be tolerated. If you’re active on there it’s hard to miss because he pops into a thread about politics or religion and will post demeaning comments about women. It’s a science forum not some sexist guy’s personal blog. Slippery slopes.

I was responding to Leigha's claim "I've been noticing this type of guy on forums." rather than specifically Bowser on SF.

To Syne - does the NRA have a culture of jokes about pointing loaded guns at people? If 'yes' then perhaps an example would help us to see some of the humour to be found in this situation.

Ah, I see what you were saying.

I’m just avoiding this guy going forward.

Anyway, did everyone have a good Monday?
Monday was good until now. I got home late to find the seagull nest empty but nobody panicking. As time passes Mom has returned. I find one chick is OK but the other has fallen out of the nest and is either injured or dead or simply where Mom can't reach it. I don't understand much of their language but she is making the quiet "quack-quack." noise that is unmistakably affection and the loud "Caow-Caow," that seems to mean "I am a seagull.". And now silence.

... Later she calls again - not a call I know, The call is answered. Now two birds looking down at the point where the disaster has happened.
The other bird has left (almost certainly 'dad') and now she is making short "Caw" noises and looking directly at me. Perhaps she sees me as her last hope and there is nothing I can do.
Occasionally it is clear the local gulls are aware of the situation - many replies in response to one call - but they are not helping - indeed it seems no help can be given.

Tone policing? Based on only one past incident you've told us about. That sounds overly sensitive.

No, but "rape and pillage" has been fodder for comedy for a very long time.

And not everyone has the same sense of humor.
