I've just read some of the comments in these threads, but haven't posted any replies. One of the comments in that rape culture thread is very insightful - basically stating that there are probably others who agree with this guy, but because of moderation, etc they're outnumbered. In other words, if left unchecked, the site could easily become a site of intolerance, filled with all kinds of posts that would just ruin it.

lol Yea, I actually posted something in that thread on SF today in reply to Bowser, that really summarizes my feelings on it all. It's not just the video, but if you read what I posted, that sums it up. Bowser apologized, and I think there was some progress made today. I don't expect to change his views, just want him to see that on that forum anyway, he can't expect to post anything he wishes, without reproach. I'm going to move on from it now.
If nothing else, perhaps posting my ''complaint'' in that rape culture thread will create some healthy dialogue around sexism and such.
Something to note too, I was talking with a guy friend of mine the other day - he was sharing with me how there is a guy at work who is always talking about "banging" women, and showing pics to him of women he sees on different dating sites. My friend felt uncomfortable, and said that guys don't always want to talk about this stuff, especially with coworkers. So, there's this idea I think, that all guys, given the chance, would crawl over broken glass to get a peek at a naked woman. Biologically, men may be more visual than women, but it's insulting to think that men can't show restraint, or that masculinity is wrapped around checking out naked women online and high fiving one another.
So, for the guys who posted in that SF thread, they seem like good guys who don't want to see the site pulled down by pervasive sexism.
