I was about 6 years old. So not a very good witness but I know what I saw. I was in bed at the time. Allowing for scale (me being smaller then) I'd say the little fellow at the foot of my bed would have been about 18 inches tall if he'd stood up straight. He was at the foot of the bed just kind'a being there. I was wide awake at the time. Close eyes - open eyes - still there. Certainly not a normal entity - the movements flickered somewhat but the thing was stable for (I'd guess) a few minutes.  I don't think my family culture would have included anything  remotely gnome, pixie or elf so this was coming from wherever those things come from. At school we had to pray (to God?) and at about the same time I had challenged God to show himself (he didn't) - maybe this was payback. They say memories aren't actually the memory - they are (at best) a memory of a memory of a memory. For many years one of my party tricks was to play back conversations from either the present or the distant past - word for word. When challenged "Are you listening to me?" - not 'listening' as such but I could repeat exactly what  had been said. I am absolutely convinced (perhaps foolishly) that the images I can recall now are accurate representations of what I saw then.

Or you were half asleep. These kinds of things never seen to occur in the middle of the day in a brightly lit room.

How is the recording going? Have you tried a ghost recorder? Smile

haha I recorded just a few minutes of ''silence,'' to see what it might pick up. Sadly, playing it back scared me.  Big Grin

I'm so weak.

I still need to hook the USB cord to the laptop to see the ''frequencies,'' because someone on SF claimed that if my recorder is cheap then it probably won't pick up many sounds in the low frequency range.
Being weak is good for ghost hunting by the way. :Smile Are ghosts known to operate in the low frequency range? Do goblins tend to take up the higher frequencies?
What is a goblin, exactly? Big Grin  And yes, supposedly, ''ghost hunting experts'' suggest that ghostly sounds can only be heard at low frequency.

Sounds like a scary event, especially since you were so young.

I'm skeptical about paranormal occurrences, but never say never.  Wink
Interesting experience confused2. It's not uncommon for children to see and experience paranormal beings that adults can't see. Something about our cultural indoctrination as we grow up activates filters in our consciousness that screen out extraordinary perceptions. I for one believe what you say and have no idea what it could've been. Reality is full of mysteries and wonders that we could see if only we could see as we did when we were children.
That's an interesting perspective, MR. As adults, we lose that childlike wonder and imagination to believe things that can seem...unbelievable.

Do you think we are losing something or developing. It's not that we aren't able to be creative. We just aren't as naive or as gullible as a 3 year old. After all, most 6 year old kids know that Santa doesn't exist (have I worn out my welcome yet?) Smile

I'm not saying we believe everything without verifying it ...but, as adults we tend to dismiss things quickly. Perhaps, we're worried that we'll look foolish to others if we dare to let anyone know that we believe in the possibility of ghosts. (or whatever)  While I like to keep an open mind, I think we shouldn't become gullible, lest we become vulnerable to those who wish to take advantage of us.

Going for a long nature hike today with friends, hoping to take some pics along the way of nature.

For those living in the northeast, be careful...stay hydrated. Hard to believe that the heat index is worse up north than in the southeast, where I live.

Happy Saturday, all. Heart
Nature has been a bit of a beast today. All day long Mrs Gull has been either harassed or actively defending the chicks from a large male gull. I returned from work after a few hours to find Mr and Mrs Gull by the nest. After a while I could just make out the two chicks lying absolutely flat on the roof. Apparently Mrs Gull couldn't see them either - she was calling to them and they weren't answering. Mr Gull was there too - what has he been doing all day? It soon became clear exactly what this bird has been doing all day.

And then Mrs Gull saw the chicks and went to them - they started flapping around - I thought they were showing mum they were ok. How wrong can you be, Only when I saw Mrs Gull with one of their necks in her beak did I realise she wasn't mom at all. I got onto the roof as quickly as I could but I'm not sure I was in time to save the chick.

This isn't very pleasant to watch.

Ug.
Sorry to hear, confused. Sad It's inspiring for what it's worth, to see your compassion like this.

I think humanity is short on humility and empathy.
