The way you guys do politics he’s probably gained in popularity. People who voted for him figured all along he was guilty so does it change anything? If Biden wants to win Trump supporters over then he’ll probably have to pardon him. Christ, what a shitshow.

Everybody associated with Trump's campaign, and the associated party organization, that contributed to allowing him to become the GOP candidate had to be 100% loam topsoil dirt-stupid if they truly believed he had any chance of either escaping this conviction or those falling out of the yet further trials down the road. That had to be a given that was factored in from the outset.

So if they now start wavering to any degree, express surprise, or do anything other than behave indifferently about this or become more gung-ho than ever because of it -- then each should stamp "abysmal idiot" on the forehead. Since it would brazenly indicate they launched into this unprepared or without a tactical care in the world for what wasn't even a middling possibility, but a sure outcome.

The only offence I could identify was (if true) the silk PJs. No self-respecting lounge lizard even owns PJs let alone silk ones.

Hard to believe there’s no plan should he be convicted. When’s the sentencing, the appeal, the next Stormy Daniels’ porn? Is a criminal case imminent re any Biden misdeeds? If Biden doesn’t pardon Trump should he worry if he gets caught doing or having done something illegal? Might be a good thing for America, corrupt politicians are no longer safe?

Sentencing is July 11, just 3 days before the GOP convention commences.

According to Norm Eisen, only 10% of cases comparable to this have resulted in imprisonment.

But Trump has made outspoken comments about Judge Juan Merchan and his family going back to last year, and repeatedly violated a gag order during the trial. The judge has also given small donations to the Democratic Party, and his daughter is president of a firm that has provided fundraising and advertising services for Democrat clients in the past (including Joe Biden).

So if not restricted by controversy, one would expect the Judge to throw the max at Trump. But it's possible that he might be worried about extended consequences, to his career, if he gave the appearance of partisan bias and personal animosity, and single-handedly giving victory to Biden by locking up Trump in a New York penal facility for years.

For instance, in the course of the trial, the judge mentioned "the importance of allowing Trump the ability to campaign and exercise his First Amendment rights as he seeks another term in the White House".

If that still carries any weight, then he might sentence Trump to home detention and electronic ankle bracelet. Allowing him to appear virtually at rallies.

Soviet-style show trials of political opponents are NOT how the United States has historically done politics. Along with Hillary's 2016 Russia-collusion hoax and the FBI/DOJ complicity in that, this is all new uncharted territory as America, once the world's bastion of democracy, now descends to banana-republic status.

The democrats obviously hope that the label "convicted felon" will motivate enough Trump voters to switch to Biden to hand him the victory. But it's unknown how many of those voters there will be.

There will also be movement the other way too. Many Americans are very uncomfortable with the obvious politization of the once-impartial and universally trusted justice system and its Putin-style weaponization against political enemies. Biden was already hugely unpopular and this will be the last straw for some of his more wavering voters. The threat to the future of American democracy is widely perceived to be very real.

All in all, I don't anticipate any big electoral effect. Trump's lead in the polls has only increased as this show-trial progressed and its conclusion was already anticipated by everyone, given how the deck was stacked in advance.

It should be noted that Trump was found guilty by a jury of the american public not the judge.

His defense team had ample opportunity to cross examine and remove anyone they fealt had the slightest bit of political bias.

If he's not happy with the result (which as you know he isn't) there is always the appeal courts, however if he spends time in there and finds it goes nowhere it will be both energy and money wasted on little results (other than panhandling for more money with his mantra about being innocent and how the systems against him.)

So in essence he's been found guilty not by the judges bias or politics, but by his way of handling events.
