INTRO: One of three women convicted of a terror offence for displaying images of paragliders at a pro-Palestine march is a Palestinian author and drill rap fan who was granted asylum in the UK because her family were critical of Hamas.
Heba Alhayek, 29, and her fellow protestor Pauline Ankunda, 26, attached stock images of paragliders to their backs on October 14 - just seven days after Hamas terrorists used paragliders to enter Israel before randomly slaughtering 1,200 people. Noimutu Olayinka Taiwo, 27, stuck one to the handle of a placard.
Alhayek, who grew up in Gaza before being granted asylum in the UK, is described in an online profile as an 'author, creative and facilitator' who studied an MA in Social Anthropology at SOAS and has a creative writing qualification.
The biography says her thinking is 'rooted in anti-nation-state, decolonial, queer, Afrikan feminist thought' and 'navigates topics such as disposability, Global South solidarity movements, land justice, Palestinian drill music, and more.'
She, Ankunda and Taiwo were charged under the Terrorism Act with carrying or displaying an article to arouse reasonable suspicion that they are supporters of banned organisation Hamas,
After they were found guilty today following a two-day trial, the Crown Prosecution Service said displaying the images amounted to the 'glorification of the actions' of Hamas - despite a veteran Guardian journalist appearing to give evidence in their defence.
But the judge said he had 'decided not to punish' the women and gave them a 12-month conditional discharge instead on the basis that he did not believe they were true Hamas supporters and 'emotions' had 'run very high' at the time of their offence... (MORE - details)

RELEASE: Former editor of The Sun Kelvin MacKenzie has been left livid at the Church and claimed that it is helping migrants to "lie" to stay in the country. This comes as The Church of England has claimed it is not its job to vet asylum seekers after it emerged an Afghan sex offender wanted over an acid attack had a priest vouch he had converted to Christianity so he could stay in Britain.
Speaking to Patrick Christys, MacKenzie said: "Why should it be our responsibility to nurture him and find his work or do whatever it is for it? "This is a problem for his own country and it's his own country whose job it is to defend him if there are.
"So it's an absolute disgrace the Church of England's role in all this. And not only the Church of England but other churches as well, Baptist churches.
"They have a role and they have chosen to say we are all God's people. And then when this goes wrong, they say, oh, it's the Home Office.
"I'm afraid they are led by the Archbishop of Canterbury who stands up constantly and says to people to come on over.
"On that basis, if they want preferment within the Church of England, then the way to get it is obviously to baptise people."
Christys then asked MacKenzie: "Should victims of asylum seekers who've converted to Christianity and then gone on to commit crimes be allowed to sue Justin Welby [The Archbishop of Canterbury]?"
MacKenzie answered: "That is a very good idea and I think they should definitely be able to do that."
