Damn it! I was looking forward to watching this but due to Covid-19 it’s not going to be released until October 1, 2021.

It’ll be worth the wait, although this movie will just cover the first half of the book, which I suppose will play out better since it might get sloppy if too much is crammed into one movie.

It should, as the director seemed to be rush in post-production, and the better this first one, the more likely we are to get the second half.

The 1984 movie suffered from being confusing, with so much packed into one movie. So splitting the book will likely help a lot.

After the success of GoT, I'm still amazed HBO never tried to turn it into a multi-season series, wherein the whole Dune trilogy could unfold at a slower and meticulous pace as it should on a screen.

The next James Bond movie and a slough of others got re-routed to the summer, too. A lot of people probably want to see Daniel Craig's exit finally out of the way so that a project for the "new guy" can commence. Or would have before Tom Hardy was rumored as the replacement. But this claims that they haven't decided yet. Maybe the actor from Bodyguard (also played a House of Stark son in "Game of Thrones") still has a shot. Heh, that's as futile as hoping back in the late '90s that Adrian Paul would eventually be selected. None of the suits shepherding the Bond franchise ever even saw an episode of that wobbling all over place Highlander series.

Dune as a series, would be awesome! An entire season out for view though, not one episode airing weekly. I didn't watch GoT until it was out for a few years, and watched the first six seasons at my own pace. I guess HBO feels this is the only way to lock in their customer base. Netflix puts out an entire season at a time, which I loooove.

Amazon Prime Video does that, too. We're waiting for the latter to release the final season of the The Expanse in one shot, in December. (Or has it already happened? Crazy Wikipedia.).

Sounds dreary, though, via an article I read several weeks ago. Something about the crew members of Rocinante separating to get in touch with their past as the end looms for Earth. The last thing I want or expect for a final season for a series like this: An internalized orientation exploring a bunch of personal issues that have been kept under wraps.

Show's going to die like a faux soap-opera instead of with a space-opera bang, I guess. (While occasionally infested with mad storylines, real soap-operas back in the day were actually more interesting than stereotyped. The nearest thing to evolving and unpredictable characters and situations versus the prime-time shows like Bonanza monotonously rewinding themselves to the same setting every week.)

I just got back from the theater. We basically had the place to ourselves. Just one other person and that was it. My husband said he could take it or leave it, but I loved it. It was awesome!

Thanks. I was going to wait two or three years for the 2nd part of it to come out before watching, but that's not going to happen, either.

Giving it another week or so until the crowds die down. It will be interesting to compare it to David Lynch's 80's version, which unlike most I really liked. Guess I should've read the book.

One night later, now we've seen it (chain reaction has started). Initially seemed hard to believe they squeezed all that into two and half hours, but perhaps not in retrospect.

Precognition like Paul's gets mundane after the tsunami of non-linear apprehension of time with respect to items like Doctor Manhatten (Watchmen), Arrival, etc.

Glad COVID didn't kill the plans for Part 2. Not sure it quite broke even with the promotional costs and so-forth tacked on to the original budget, but it was enough to get the green light for the sequel.
