Dying to get back on sciforums

I wasn't actively posting for a few years there, so not familiar with your story...I take it you were perma-banned? It can be tough to get ''reactivated'' once you're perma-banned from there.

Actually my initials are JR. Chances are my first name is James. I have a username on SciF that I have not used in a while. However I’m thinking of making a comeback. My persona on SciF is not well liked, belligerent and detested by many but I have never been banned or suspended, hmmmm. I once joined a science forum using a coded version of my SciF username but despite it being blatantly obvious, no one ever figured it out, or realized I was not online with one forum when on the other. Z’s writing Style has not changed much over time. I join other forums to collect intel and conduct espionage. Z has been on the internet longer than SciF. It sometimes happens that Z forgets just what forum he’s on, who he’s talking too and what the subject is. It is possible Z is or was more than one person. Using different aliases I have composed hundreds if not thousands of threads. I have had one thread trashed in all these years (it was deserved). I have been and probably still am a member of several philosophy forums, my username always starts with an M there. I have had others copy or use a derivative of Z several times. I once belonged to The Time Travel forum. I’m in the Urban Dictionary thanks to a pissed off member in one of the forums. I am thinking of retiring Z for good.

Yet I have never been suspended or banned from any forum.***

*** only one of the above statements is false

Sounds like a worthwhile venture, Z. I'll bring the popcorn. Big Grin

No kidding.lol

No one should be banned from a forum. Shouldn’t happen. There are rules, simply follow them. Don’t be stupid, understand your audience. Personally I hate seeing people axed only because their message or method is controversial. I’d rather see a good roast than banishment. Perhaps people will voluntarily leave once crushed, if you know what I mean?

Reminds me.....people always ask why I end my username with a pos, not pus....I think the answer is obvious Big Grin . Actually Z is/was a great admirer of the Leakey’s and their quest at Olduvai Gorge, hence the username. Z loved being a branch that fell off the hominid tree.

Should have a retirement party. Life is short, other things to do. Zin has grandkids now. Will see the summer out and decide before year end.

Well, that's the problem, isn't it? Some people don't follow them.

Not going to dispute that. If banishment is in the rules then that’s the penalty.

I have firsthand, behind the scenes knowledge that the rules don't matter over there. Ostro obviously violated the rules, but other people have been perma-banned just because the mods voted they disliked them enough, without any rule violation at all.

The lucky ones get banned. I should go back there and have my alter ego tossed for Z’s retirement.  Big Grin I’ll let you know, could be fun.

There's probably a lot of truth to that. Wink

Returning after not being very active for a while, I noticed some really great members were banned, who were once regulars. I mean, they were problematic from what I recall, but were solid members. They didn't post woo, if anything, they were usually in the hard science and political sections, so not sure what they did to get banned. Sometimes, I wonder though...if they've resurrected using a sock account. Shades of their personalities show up now and again. Big Grin
