You meeting Syne there later? or maybe a certain duck?
Well, I don’t think Syne would ban me and he might even guard me while I use the restroom.
The area is really interesting, though.
The trimmigrants come from all parts of the world.
I started backpacking there about ten years ago. There’s this little community, Petrolia, that’s very isolated and known for their independence. They’ve even created their own 911 system and their own currency. The mastermind behind the currency is a retired professor of atmospheric physics and the founder and director of the National Running Data Center. I thought he was interesting. So, I asked about it at "the one and only" general store. She rang him up and he just happen to live a few houses down from the store. So, I met up with him and bought a few. They’re called the
Mattole Petol.
On the first night on the lost coast trail, I slept in this old abandoned lighthouse, the
Punta Gorda. They called it the "Alcatraz of Lighthouses", because it was extremely remote, a challenge to re-supply, and was considered a form of punishment for lighthouse keepers to be stationed here.
