"The establishment elites were so terrified by Reform and the populists that they stooped to dirty tactics..."
Farage's resignation speech in full

EXCERPTS: We have also built the biggest membership of any political party in the country.... We achieved some huge successes in the local elections. Not only did we achieve breakthroughs in Scotland and in Wales, but we absolutely dominated in the Midlands and the North, the old Labor heartlands. And that is why Keir Starmer is now on his way out. Not to forget that in East Anglia, the Conservatives have now, by us, been reduced to nothing more than a rump.
It seems to me that the establishment has now decided that they can't beat us fairly. So, they've chosen to use foul means. Let me be absolutely clear. [...] I have done nothing wrong. I have not broken the law in any way at all. I have not misused public money. And you know, for the first two years of being an MP, my personal MP expenses are zero. Not, of course, that you'll read about that in mainstream media...
[...] Today I will resign as a member of parliament for Clacton-on-Sea, thereby forcing a by-election, which should happen, I hope, in short order. Now, I've decided that the people of Clacton should be the judges of my actions. This will be a people versus the establishment by-election. It's a chance to stick two fingers up to the entire establishment to frankly tell them where to go.
And that is why I will be putting my name forward to stand in this by-election. I will fight to win. I will fight to continue the political revolution that reform has started. And I would say this to you, the voters of Clacton, if I win, you win. Because if I lose, they win. And we will never, with the two old parties, get the type of fundamental change that we need to fix broken Britain.

VIDEO EXCERPTS: Well, they weren't expecting that, were they? And I think the quite disgusting establishment campaign against Nigel Farage, an attempt by them to try and get him to bow out, to quit, to leave frontline politics, and instead Nigel Farage coming out swinging today in a very big way indeed. And I have to say, what we've seen in recent times against Nigel is absolutely disgusting.
[...] Why is it that Andy Burnham is about to become prime minister with virtually zero scrutiny whatsoever and yet there is this campaign against Nigel? We've seen truly despicable behavior. Also, the rules being changed. So, we've seen funding rules for political parties being changed. Oh, I wonder why that is. We even saw the Greater Manchester Mayoral by-election, the election rules, the election system changed to that as well.
But Nigel today making a stand against the establishment, vowing now to trigger a by-election in Clacton, one in which he'll stand. This will be a people versus the establishment by-election. (MORE - video)

INTRO: Nigel Farage has dramatically resigned as MP for Clacton in a bid to force a by-election he says will pit “the people” against the political establishment. The Reform UK leader insists he has done nothing wrong, despite mounting scrutiny over undeclared financial support including a separate row over a £5 million gift and claims about benefits from close ally George Cottrell. Farage says voters in Clacton should judge him directly, but rivals say he is trying to turn a standards scandal into a political stunt. The move sets up a huge test of whether Farage can turn personal controversy into a fresh populist victory.
