In August 2025, a United Nations-backed group of experts officially declared that a famine was occurring in the northern part of the Gaza Strip. This marked the first time the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) confirmed a famine in the region and one of only a few times it has made such a declaration globally.

How many per hostage is anyone's guess. AI… Quote:. Living in a war-devastated area has severe and long-lasting consequences, affecting people's physical, psychological, social, economic, and environmental well-being. The destruction of infrastructure and targeting of civilians in modern warfare inflict trauma that can last for generations, even after the fighting has ended. The best in human nature may not be possible in Gaza. In the past I have mentioned the ME was rife with PTSD. Seems AI agrees with my sentiments, at least for Gaza: Quote: PTSD rates are extremely high in Gaza due to decades of conflict, and recent events have significantly worsened the mental health crisis for both adults and children. Studies show high percentages of adults and children with symptomatic PTSD, along with other issues like severe anxiety and depression. Factors contributing to this include constant violence, displacement, loss, and limited access to mental health services, which are already overwhelmed and on the verge of collapse. I’m not expecting any swift cure or a miracle to occur overnight. Some mentally ill people might find it difficult to be nice to one another with guns at the disposal of those with severe mental impairment. A huge psych ward containing armed patients.

Might also include the decades of Hamas terrorizing Gazans themselves. They were executing enemy Palestinians in Gaza long before Oct 7th, and now they're back to business as usual. Seems few care about either. |
