Cal Fire posted this photograph of their Castle Fire morning briefing in Oroville. They say, "This is what daylight looks like in Oroville today."

Not just in Oroville!! That's exactly how the sky looks outside my window right now, 10:15 AM, on the Peninsula north of San Jose. Even dimmer than in the photo.

The weird thing is that it's getting darker by the minute. My body clock is all out of wack and it can't believe that the sun isn't setting.

Yeah, I’m all out of whack, too. I have an event scheduled for this weekend but I doubt that’s going to happen. The smoke is really thick here. I’ve been inside all day but the smell is making me sick. I feel lost.

My son is trying to convince me to move to Arizona. My in-laws are trying to convince me to move to Nevada and some of my family members are trying to convince me to move to Oklahoma. I never thought I would say this because I love California so much but I'm seriously considering leaving now.  Sad

I’m sure you know, but if not, you can keep an eye on the wind here at windy.com.

AFAIK, Ray Bradbury had lived in California since he was 14, and is buried there. So he's very happy about the Martian sky.

What is it with the chronic connection between those two? Is half the current population of the Golden State descended from the Great Exodus and parting of the waters that the Joads family were part of, as they made their way to the Land of Milk and Honey?

Risky. I've heard rumors that it's dangerous to move directly from California to Oklahoma without any years spent in between. The shock from the drop in cost of living triggers cardiac conditions or something. Or maybe it's the drop in pay. When all is considered though, the costs are probably still less.

Leaving Oklahoma City to San Francisco, with respect to a person with a $60,000 income:

San Francisco, CA is 99.9% higher than in Oklahoma City, OK. You would have to earn a salary of $119,946 to maintain your current standard of living.

Moving from San Francisco to Oklahoma City:

Employers in San Francisco, CA typically pay 36.8% more than employers in Oklahoma City, OK.

But the higher wages and more are gobbled-up by the lofty expenses and taxes of Baghdad by the Bay.

EDIT: Hmm... Shifting from cities to the average incomes of residents in mundane counties or areas of California, though, they seem within the same range as their counterparts in Oklahoma. Question is, do they still get zonked with the higher expenses even living out in the hinterlands of the Bear state?

When I looked outside this morning I thought that maybe Elon had kidnapped me while I slept and shipped me overnight to his native planet.

I wonder if the parents of ‘gender reveal’ party children will put as much effort into raising their offspring as was put into the pyrotechnic event. Would be ironic if the subject of this particular ceremony grows into a firefighter or arsonist.

I don't know. I might be a prisoner here. They’ve been talking about it for a while but I guess that Assemblyman Rob Bonta was on Fox news discussing the new wealth tax proposal and how it will include an exit tax. One article said that it's not just the millionaires that need to be concerned because it also includes people within my tax bracket.

"The new threat: a first-in-the-nation combination wealth tax and exit tax."

Unconstitutional Disaster

Welcome to The Hotel California
Last thing I remember
I was running for the door
I had to find the passage back
To the place I was before
"Relax", said the night man
"We are programmed to receive
You can check out any time you like
But you can never leave"

Our blue state is now officially red.

My oldest son is under an evacuation warning and he can’t get home (to my house). All the roads are closed and there’s no cell service. I’m not going to get much sleep tonight.
