Not poo-tail... its spherical... about 1" in diameter an part of somethin else that i use several times a day.!!!

I supose it coud qualify as a simple machine.!!!

Its permanently mounted in the kitchen... been thar for 40 years.!!!

Is it the 1970s version of a faucet with a single handle for controlling hot / cold water?

Thousands of diferent designs... but it woud be hard to find a kitchen that didnt have some sort of apparatus to fulfill this need.!!!
