That statement tends to miss the point that the world has been forced into an economic slump and pandemonium through pandemic. Middle Eastern countries strength was originally down to their control over oil and the pricing being high meant they held power through wealth. The economic drop caused oil prices to dip to low levels, which in turn meant their wealth has been severely hit which is likely the only reason why they were ever brought to a bargaining table.

It literally means that it's more about the economic issues than any particular notoriety.

Syne claim [of masks]:-
they aerosolize larger droplets into smaller particles
Google suggests try:
they aerosolized larger droplets into smaller particles

Sorry, still can't find any studies suggesting that is the case.

Doesn't matter - we've moved on from there.

When compared to medical masks.

Really Syne! (or maybe not)

OK more..

Quote:Conclusions This study is the first RCT [Randomised Trial] of cloth masks, and the results caution against the use of cloth masks. This is an important finding to inform occupational health and safety. Moisture retention, reuse of cloth masks and poor filtration may result in increased risk of infection. Further research is needed to inform the widespread use of cloth masks globally. However, as a precautionary measure, cloth masks should not be recommended for HCWs [Health Care Workers], particularly in high-risk situations, and guidelines need to be updated.

So cloth masks may (or may not) protect the wearer. The issue is (and all [most] parties agree [[let's be honest here] ) .. are the chances of transmission lower (or higher) if the infected person wears a mask?

So far I find no support for:

So the UAE and Bahrain are just opening new markets? And the normalization of relations will not continue past a recovery in oil prices? That would be a bold claim of such a historic deal.
What about Kosovo and Serbia? Both import oil.

More likely is that Obama/Biden emboldening Iran made many of these countries fear their own security and become more willing to band together.

Hey, if you can't be bothered to read the links I already gave you. From the first one:

The percent change in median particle emission over the entire size range of 0.3 – 20 µm is presented in Fig. 4d, which shows that the homemade masks in general yielded more particles in total for coughing, and had mixed efficacy in reducing particle emissions for breathing and talking.
...
the homemade paper and cotton masks aerosolized significant number of particles
...
a washed double-layer cotton mask aerosolized slightly more particles than the unwashed mask. These results suggest that a single washing has little impact on the presence of aerosolizable particulate matter in standard cotton fabrics.

I can't account for lazy.
