Wouldn't help. Losers hold grudges a long time.

As for more random thoughts - I watched the documentary Knock the House Down, recently and loved it! No matter your political views everyone, this is a fresh film. It shows the grass roots efforts of four ''everyday'' women running for Congress, with the main focus being Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. I found it interesting how she literally started with no money, just a tremendous drive... and beat out a long standing Democrat.

It's an exclusive social club for not-very-smart people, a place where conformity is more important than ideas. The group stakes out its collective positions: militant evangelical atheism, hate-Trump, or screw-"woo". Then they enjoy group solidarity by attacking any outsider who dares to disagree, often in the rudest and most insulting ways possible. The outsiders are eliminated (often by banning) and everyone struts around feeling invincible.

Part of the problem is that so much discussion over there is moralized, it's about defending good against evil. (It isn't just that board, we see it everywhere these days. It's why I say that we live in a neo-puritan age.)

Most political discussion falls prey to that, it's why everything has become so polarized. To disagree is to 'out' yourself as being evil, and evil needs to be silenced, not reasoned with. Over there, "woo" is evil, religion is evil and (God help us) President Trump is evil. So no open-mindedness can be tolerated (compromising with evil is evil!) and all disagreement is shouted down as something very close to treason. In short: psychologically speaking, like so much of contemporary life, it's an elementary school play-yard, a place where everyone indulges their inner child.

And over there the responsibility for that is primarily on the moderators, from the top down, who are oftentimes the worst of the bunch. They enforce it and it's how the moderators want it to be.

You started what I consider a very good thread about whether science should (or even can) replace "religion". But like all the threads over there, it quickly went off the rails.

It quickly started down the atheist straw-man slippery-slope of: Religion = Christianity = Biblical fundamentalism, which is simplistic in the extreme. A whole lot of gratuitous atheist assumptions were gradually introduced without any argument or justification at all, finally arriving at "I hope that someday science replaces willful stupidity" which is fine and uncontroversial absent the implicit straw-man premise "religion" = "willful stupidity".

Then the thread veered off into creationism and into whether President Trump is a liar or a bullshitter... at which point it was last seen disappearing into the toilet.

Yea, some of the usual suspects are still over there, I see.  Dodgy They might be the same, but I've changed since my last active time, there. I went through an ''atheist period,'' and then I vacillated with belief/non belief for a bit. Returning to faith, is something that has brought a lot of joy into my life. But the past few years of discovery, have been incredible. My beliefs aren't of an indoctrinated nature, anymore, but I own them, if that makes sense.

I'm truly not asking them to ''get it,'' but they could be a bit more respectful. I kind of want to ask...what happened to some of you, that you're so obsessed with a God you don't believe in? Like I don't believe that Big Foot exists, but I don't obsess over the fact that some do believe the myth. God's not a myth to me, but perhaps the concept itself even slips past them.

"If there's no evidence, I don't believe it!" That's not belief, then. lol That's science. But, that's the point of the thread...and the circle jerk came back to that point. It always comes back to that point, doesn't it?

It's all good, though. I'm going to cherry pick some of their questions and only answer those. Kind of like how they tell religious people to view their ancient texts. ''Just cherry pick what makes sense, and get rid of the rest.'' Big Grin

I've decided to take a different approach. We're dangerously close to turning the corner. Big Grin

Anywho, this thread can be about posting anything you wish. I'm done with my rant.

And that's a perfect example of the kind of bullshit the mods over there would let you get away with while dinging me for any response in kind.

Quit flaming, faggot*.

*See, how does that feel? Someone using the worst invective they can think of without a second thought or the slightest justification or provocation. If that's the level of discourse you want around here, so be it, hypocritical dipshit.

Good, then expect as much as you dish out. And you can blame yourself for the level of discourse here.

LOL. AOC's opponent sent a very lame proxy (and that's really saying something, compared to AOC) to a debate with her.

And that "everyday" is a ruse. If you fell for it, you believed what their campaigns wanted you to think.

I expect you to be an obnoxious alt right incel, to the extent that I respond to you at all. As a general rule I don't.
