But perverts obviously do take advantage of ways to invade women-only spaces, often to abuse little girls who can't defend themselves.

It's normal. We all do it, duh!

Men are just more dangerous than women.

Unless, of course, they’ve had a fucked up childhood.  Rolleyes

What’s the matter, Syne? Still struggling for significance?

No, everybody doesn't size up all men for danger...as Leigha just said.

Yes, men are potentially more dangerous than women, just by dint of their relative strength. And yes, earlier in our evolution, the reticular activating system did likely develop as a measure against threats. But most healthy people nowadays rely on cues more specific than gender alone to alert them to a possible threat.

A messed up childhood can actually result in a higher propensity to violence...and irrational fears.

Hey, if you find meaningful significance in seeing all men as dangerous...

But seriously, find someone to talk to about that past. It's very hard for a person to sort out all the ramifications on their own.

I didn’t have a bad childhood. I didn’t know until recently.

When someone shares a story, you’re supposed to try to put yourself in their shoes, but you’re not supposed to chew them.

Quote:THE LONELY DOG is one that is left alone for long periods of time in an unstimulating environment. These dogs chew out of boredom. To remedy the situation several things are in order.

Dogs possess a denning instinct; let it work for you. The best way to confine a dog is with a kennel crate.

When you are ready to leave the house, put the dog in his confinement area with a couple of chewies and go. No long, sloppy goodbyes, no pleading or threatening gestures, just a cheery “see you later” or a matter-of-fact “be good,” that’s all.

Every new puppy or dog owner should expect a certain amount of destruction from curiosity-based or tension-relieving oral tendencies of the pet. The solution to the problem lies in removing the environmental cause and guiding the dog towards the appropriate objects to chew.

I’ll try to give you something to gnaw on later.

"See you later. Be good."

If your mother "always resented" you, it was not a good childhood. And the fact that she would admit that to you would seem to indicate a significant amount of continuing dysfunction. Children tend to accept their circumstances uncritically, thinking things are normal. And adults have to overcome significant discomfort to revisit those sorts of events with unblinking eyes. That's why a third-party sounding board can be helpful to put things into perspective, even just by verbalizing them.

I do put myself in your shoes, which is why I said I don't judge people for things that happen to them, advise finding someone to talk to, and haven't even touched the subtext.

And I understand where the lashing out comes from.

It’s an old shoe and it doesn’t fit. Keep it.

I don't have time to fend off your usual display of false assumptions.

Meh.

And it's not to say that I've never been in risky/dangerous situations with men, but I don't view men as a whole, as ''dangerous.'' I also see the opposite be true, in terms of how many men view women. Male rights activists often see women as ''the enemy,'' and rant on about ''hypergamy.'' Perhaps, we all have to stop drawing lines in the sand, and find some common ground in order to move forward.

I agree. While I do agree with most criticisms of what feminism has done to the culture, many men's rights activists tend to take it too far the other way, with things like MGTOW (men going their own way). Alpha males don't have a problem with women seeking hypergamous relationships, so a lot of their vehemence is just being butt-hurt.

It's a genetic fallacy.
