EXCERPTS: Why would somebody steal a giant inflatable model of a human colon? Officials at the University of Kansas Cancer Center don’t know. They just want it back. It is 10 feet long, weighs 150 pounds and is valued at $4,000. It was taken from the bed of a pickup truck parked in the Brookside area of Kansas City. The inflatable colon is owned by the Cancer Coalition and is used as an educational tool to teach people about colon cancer. The Cancer Coalition ships the inflatable colon across the country to help see in a unique way the progression of colon cancer. One in 20 people will be diagnosed with colorectal cancer.
