Are we a bit vague about teaching morality to children? |

All kind of covered by "Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's...". Any secular morality has to attempt to cover everything whereas christianity has a them and an us where us is going to heaven and them don't matter 'cos they're going to hell anyway. As a side note that one line enables christianity to work under any form of government whereas some (pick?) religions only have a choice of government by rather unpleasant dictators or religious nutters. Therein lies one (of many) problems for morality based on the basic needs of humanity. Some members of humanity need vastly more than others - what to do about them? No, secularists just divide "them" and "us" along political lines. And where secular people think the other side is pure evil, Christians think they can be redeemed. Christianity works because it is aligned with freedom, and people seek freedom under any form of government. No one "needs vastly more than others", but some people are certainly interested in stealing from others. |
