Ronald Reagan was part of it, too.
Did the Emptying of Mental Hospitals Contribute to Homelessness?
And? He also made a course correction amid many Democrat efforts to the contrary.
But the more interesting question is do you really think one Republican excuses many Democrats of doing something unwise?

I don’t align myself with a political party. Just keeping it real.
C2 is right, though. The problem is far too extensive and worthy of its own thread.

This is the first time I've seen this instrument or toy, whatever you want to call it, but it's pretty cool.

I just found out that we are financially responsible for our aging parents. I did not know that. Did you?
"Currently, thirty states in the U.S. as well as Puerto Rico have passed these filial (due from a son or daughter) responsibility laws. In a nutshell, these filial responsibility laws require adult children to financially support their parents if they are not able to take care of themselves or to cover unpaid medical bills, such as assisted living or long-term care costs. This also includes food, clothing, shelter, and health care/medical needs of the parent. The following list contains states that have passed a form of this filial responsibility law and a link directly to their state statute, where possible."

Noticeable that much if not most of the middle of the country apparently not among the listed states (agricultural heartland).
Perhaps a left-over impetus from the old days when Anglophone households were as multigenerational as Latin ones. Or when 90% of the population was rural and immobile, with one or more siblings staying with mom/pop on the childhood property, anyway.
I knew a secret about nursing home bills (uncovered costs) that came in handy for a former neighbor ten years ago. Hmm... Well, never mind. Seems to have disappeared from even the darkest corners of internet in this era. If they can totally eradicate such a "hush-hush" to that degree, then they could probably take me out, too. For stating it directly rather than pointing indirectly...

I didn't know that you could read articles for free by using removepaywall.com.
Thanks to Elon Musk, now I do.

Nice. Thanks, SS.
I usually use an add-on to disable java script, that usually disables paywall blocking, but this works well too.

...that the world is moving way too fast for me.
I was driving next to a Waymo Jaguar yesterday. Sort of gave me the whole Stephen King "Christine" vibe.

It was reported earlier in the year that some protesters have resorted to superglueing traffic cones to their hood (bonet)
