I don't mind. I'm not a Catholic or a Christian.

Pope Leo is better than his predecessor, but he also can't resist dipping into politics. And Trump is the kind of guy where if you attack him, he'll attack you back.

And frankly, I liked Trump's meme.

The left seems to me to be trying to use it in hopes of splitting Trump's Christian supporters from MAGA. Good luck with that, democrats.

I’ve always found it remarkable that Democrats somehow have the energy to keep Orwell’s “Two minutes Hate“ going for 24 hours of every day, week, month and year. As noted, the purpose of the “Two Minutes Hate” is to allow the citizens of Oceania to vent their existential anguish and personal hatreds towards politically expedient enemies and to re-direct the members’ subconscious feelings away from the Party’s government of Oceania and onto the “enemies of the state”.
No difference here except, of course, for the grating, grinding, debilitating fatigue of listening to the constant white noise of their complaints. Jean Kirkpatrick prophetically (she said it in the real 1984) got it right when she called them the “blame America first crowd”.
But given the reaction yesterday to an AI generated image of Trump in robes laying hands on a bedridden man, generated back in February and he stupidly shared online, it’s hard not to notice there is a segment of “Republicans” who know how to do the Two Minutes Hate, too.
I stand by my comment yesterday that if you are ready to split with Trump and the MAGA effort, you probably were just looking for an excuse—and this gave it to you.

I don't know any Christians, personally, that are offended by this. He was obviously trolling the Pope, who is making black and white claims about war, even though the Bible has plenty of examples of God calling people to wage war. In this case, the Pope seems to saying that any war, for any reason, is bad, even war to potentially free the oppresses or stop a world threat. I wonder if he'd have criticized the US for trying to stop Hitler too.

Conservative Catholic podcast host Michael Knowles also expressed his discomfort, writing, "I assume someone has already told him, but it behooves the President both spiritually and politically to delete the picture, no matter the intent."

The other side: Laura Loomer, an ally of the president and far-right activist, dismissed the outrage, arguing, "People crashing out over a meme need to chill out."

The White House did not immediately respond to Axios' request for comment.

Most Christians value trying to live as Jesus would, trying to be Christ-like. So depicting that undermines nothing.
