"Starfleet Academy": the final tombstone? (now departed Kurtzman's last fashion show)

I belatedly watched the debut episode on Pluto TV. Even some YouTube naysayers grudgingly admitted that the first one was "okay". But apparently it's plummeted downhill from that point on.

Taylor Sheridan actually had a brief role in an installment of "Star Trek: Enterprise", back in the early 2000s. Doubtful that even Paramount's messiah could save the franchise, now, if he could magically be put in charge. Plus, the Kurtzman version of Star Trek has already become something that kids can't watch anymore. Sheridan would amplify that twice over, even if the stories might be more interesting.

VIDEO EXCERPTS: There's no speculation. It's as if these people [that they hired as writers] have never encountered the genre of science fiction before.

I don't think they have.

[...] They're trying to appeal to some audience that they're chasing after, that just isn't there.

Well, they're there. But it's a small vocal minority.

[...] But Alan, what are the ratings like right now?

Share them or just tell us.

Trying to, because they normally don't give you the actual ratings when they're bad.

Okay, so far there is 2.1 million for the first two episodes. [Lagging with respect to the third.]

And this is basically comparing it to the popular Paramount Plus shows. So that that's how it looks in comparison.

"Starfleet Academy" is in the orange.

So, Drinker's video got more. Wait, "Landman" is at 16.1 million?

Yeah. Season two. Wow.

"1923" after that. "Tulsa King" next. And the "Mayor of Kingstown". This Sheridan dude must be popular. Wow.

I think it was Nerdrotic on YouTube that did a live stream of a Spock action figure sitting in a chair... and it had more views in a handful of hours than the first episode of Academy they put on YouTube, for free, the whole first day.

Here's Drinker's video:

Paramount can go to hell for screwing up the whole Star Trek franchise. It is completely unrecognizable to me from the original.
