Quote:Press could lose Pentagon access for releasing 'unauthorised information'
Source: BBC
The Pentagon has told journalists they must agree not to disclose unauthorised information or else risk losing access to the building.

The change is among a number of new restrictions, which also seek to impose limits on the movement of journalists within the facility, which is home to the Department of War, formerly known as the Department of Defense.

It follows a series of leaks in recent months.

Pete Hegseth, who was recently given the new title of Secretary of War, said on social media: "The 'press' does not run the Pentagon — the people do. The press is no longer allowed to roam the halls of a secure facility. Wear a badge and follow the rules — or go home."

The new restrictions were set out in a briefing note sent to members of the press, which they will be required to sign in order to maintain their Pentagon press credentials.

While I'm an outsider to the US (and thus have no say on what you get up to) I can respect that some places should have tight security, however I would consider various points should I have been in your shoes:
  • The number of ex-FOX employees now roaming around there. If I was running SEC, they wouldn't be allowed. Even if they aren't doing things they aren't suppose to be, ex-colleagues and acquaintances could target them to obtain intelligence. Therefore they are potential a leak.
  • Trumps Truth Social will likely have expedient access to released intelligence, thereby undermining other networks/groups. This isn't just a monopoly, but it also means forcing people into the brainwashed corner of the internet that is Trump controlled where the intelligence is fudged beyond that of just government censoring.

Most of the ex-FOX employees with access to the Pentagon were judges, military, etc. before joining FOX.
The SEC (Securities Exchange Commission) only polices financial market manipulation, like insider trading in the stock market. So I don't know who you imagine would have the authority to stop an executive administration from bringing in who they want.
Trump's first administration certainly did have plenty of leaks. That's why he's been far pickier and faster to fire this go around.
Doesn't matter if it's Truth Social, Twitter, Bluesky, etc.. The President's personal, official, and White House accounts will always give that administration's slant, no matter who's in the office.

Real freedom of speech is when you can say "I don't like this guy - get rid of him" and they do. Then you can say anything you like.

Bravo confused2. Well said!

And now for the good news:

NEW YORK (AP) — "Jimmy Kimmel will be reinstated after his suspension following his Charlie Kirk comments, ABC says.

His late-night talk show “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” will return to ABC on Tuesday night.

This is a breaking news story. More info to come."

Booyah! Thank you Disney/ABC! The deafening outcry of millions of malcontents with cellphones and keyboards is not easily ignored!

Will Sinclair or Nexstar air it?
No one should be surprised that Disney/ABC reversed course under leftist pressure.

He'll have to apologize, if they stick to their promises.

"Sinclair, the nation’s largest ABC affiliate group, said it would not air Kimmel’s show, even if ABC decides to bring it back, unless “appropriate steps” were taken. Sinclair called on Kimmel to apologize and said it would air a tribute to Kirk in Kimmel’s time slot on Friday, Reuters reported."

It was only this scandal that made me aware that Nexstar is another Bible-thumper affiliate. I didn't know why a few years ago our local CBS stationed pulled the enormously educational series "The Doctors" and replaced it with the idiotic "700 Club". Now I know. Sinclair is the same way. Our local ABC station is managed by them, airing only the news that puts Trump in a favorable light. We'll see who wins out between ABC and them. I highly doubt Kimmel will be kissing their ass any time soon.

Media giant Sinclair called on Jimmy Kimmel to apologize directly to Charlie Kirk's family over remarks he made about the conservative activist's killing, and to give both them and Turning Point USA a "meaningful personal donation."

Sinclair Won’t Air Jimmy Kimmel’s Return on Its 38 ABC Stations

The preemption means that 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' will remain unavailable for some of the U.S. despite its return after a nearly week-long suspension.

Jimmy Kimmel may be returning to ABC Tuesday night, but his show will remain dark in a large swath of the U.S., with Sinclair Broadcast Group saying that it will preempt the show.

“Beginning Tuesday night, Sinclair will be preempting Jimmy Kimmel Live! across our ABC affiliate stations and replacing it with news programming,” the company said in a statement Monday. “Discussions with ABC are ongoing as we evaluate the show’s potential return.”

Nexstar hasn't announced any change to its "indefinite preemption."

Then he obviously didn't get "cancelled" nor was ABC coerced by the government.
