Stephen Colbert's late night show is cancelled, effective May 2026. Ostensibly for financial reasons.

Colbert, Kimmel, etc. have been irrelevant for quite some time. And it's quite telling that Kimmel, Colbert's direct rival for views, ads, etc., is defending him. Shows that, at least for Kimmel, the leftist solidarity is more important than the revenue... which is generally why shows get cancelled.

Sounds like Adam Schiff already has another "the public deserves to know" conspiracy brewing.

"Just finished taping with Stephen Colbert who announced his show was cancelled. If Paramount and CBS ended the Late Show for political reasons, the public deserves to know. And deserves better."

(June 9) Jimmy Fallon Could Leave ‘The Tonight Show’
https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/arti...49237.html

Jimmy Fallon might leave “The Tonight Show” soon. Recently, a source told RadarOnline that the host could quit the talk show before his contract ends with NBC. Fallon seemingly doubts the longevity of the format of the traditional late-night projects. The report suggested that viewership took a toll since he returned to the studio post-COVID.

I used to be an avid fan of Colbert. But a few years ago I quit watching because he talked about Trump so much. Not that he wasn't right on target with his satire and jokes. Just that I am so fed up with having to think about the orange bloated pussy grabber. There are so many more worthy topics of conversation.

As if the two are completely unrelated. When over half the country votes one way, it's a natural consequence that partisan entertainment is going to suffer financially.

Over half the country didn't vote one way when you include not only those who voted for Harris but all the others who simply didn't vote at all. Nearly 90 million Americans didn't vote – which is more than the number of people who voted for Trump or Harris. I know I didn't vote because I was fed up with politics. Given these huge numbers most Americans don't give a fuck about Trump.

And yet that monotony did somehow keep him above Kimmel and Fallon in the ratings. In contrast to MSNBC, which just keeps dropping like a rock, no matter how much they rail about Trump. Too bad they can't talk Colbert into switching from comedy to becoming a news anchor for them a year from now. They couldn't afford him, anyway.

"MSNBC has experienced significant declines in viewership recently, with a drop of 24% in primetime and 33% in total day viewers as of May 2025. In the key demographic of Adults 25-54, MSNBC averaged 73,000 viewers in primetime, down 34% compared to the previous year."

If you didn't vote you didn't care enough to even choose to be against one person more than another. Probably because you were too chickenshit to own your choice.

Bingo. And I will care again when the system is able to provide We The People with a descent and intelligent and socially-adept presidential candidate. Assuming that's even possible any more. Harris was ok. But I was too disaffected by Biden to even care at that point.

Since you didn't care enough to vote, you telling us about what you think the election meant is meaningless twaddle.
