Newly Discovered Asteroid Identified as an Old Friend

On January 2, astronomers at the Harvard-Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory's Minor Planet Center booked a newly discovered asteroid.

But on January 3, they deleted it from their database, after they realized that it had the same orbit as a known object called 2018-017A.

Which is Elon's red Tesla roadster with Starman at the wheel, shot into solar orbit on the initial Falcon Heavy test flight.

Hopefully we get some good pictures of how it's holding up.
