DARPA (the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, part of the US DoD) has selected Northrop Grumman
to develop the concept of a lunar railroad network for transporting humans, supplies and resources between bases, laboratories, factories, mines and other possible future facilities on the Moon's surface. It would be available for use by both government and commercial ventures.
