Russian Ukraine Invasion

Ukraine appears to have hit the bridge across the Dnipro at the Kakhovka dam with HIMARS GMLRS rockets or something similar, precisely when a Russian military convoy was passing across.

Warning, the video in the tweet is kinda gruesome. (I don't like the Russian invasion, but I don't like seeing young men dying either. In this instance, they were probably blown to pieces (literally) before they even knew that they were under fire. Probably the best way to go in wartime.)

The Ukrainians continue to hit the larger Antonovsky bridge near Kherson as well. Definitely trying to hinder Russian supply lines across the river.

Here is the same video. (Special Kherson Cat says "Human remains on video, not for sensitive people.") Both videos are 'flagged' on twitter for 'sensitive content' but on my computer allows me to click through to see them.)

Still from the video that don't show blown up fragments of human bodies.

From Special Kherson Cat - The Kakhovka dam bridge looks like a difficult target to hit if the Ukrainians want to sever the road without blowing up the dam (which would flood Kherson down river) or destroying the electric power plant at the dam. Requires the right kind of warheads and high-precision targeting.

A job for HIMARS! It's hard not to turn it into a larger-than-life myth like the Ukrainians are doing. It's actually the GMLRS missiles that are doing the work, and they can be fired from a variety of launcher vehicles, including the even-more-capable M270, not just HIMARS which is a smaller high-mobility wheeled version of the big tracked M270. Ukraine has received a small number of US made M270's from Britain and Germany though not from the US directly. Ukraine has lots of GMLRS guided artillery rockets.

Maybe flagging and the slight impediments aren't safety sufficient in parts of Oceania, anymore. While depiction of graphic Russian deaths isn't hate-speech, it might be construed as the visual equivalent by new AI policing algorithms that haven't had their adult daycare parameters finely adjusted yet. It would also be in the industry's best interests to overdo it in the beginning, to counter criticism that their censorship approach would be limp compared to government.

(July 25, 2022) Tech giants to self-regulate in reducing harmful content in New Zealand
https://www.reuters.com/technology/tech-...022-07-25/

EXCERPTS: Big tech companies agreed on Monday to reduce harmful online content in New Zealand, making a move that critics said dodged the alternative of government regulation.

[...] "This is a weak attempt to preempt regulation – in New Zealand and overseas – by promoting an industry-led model," Mandy Henk, chief executive of Tohatoha NZ, a non-profit organisation that lobbies on the social impact of technology, said in a statement.

[...] New Zealand has been a leader in trying to stamp out violent extremism online.

Are you using an iPhone? I'm told that iOS won't allow people to click through the twitter 'sensitive' tags. I'm using a Chromebook and it seemingly has no problem with it. (Haven't tried it on my Android phone yet.)

Don’t wish to sound ghoulish but I think images like these paint the real cost of war. It isn’t Hollywood, not a video game, or blurred out, it’s reality. I’d imagine these sights were common during WWI a & II. Not sure if scenes like this toughen resolve or make one of think of calling it quits.

Watched it on my Apple iPad. Upper torso followed by what appears to be the soldier’s bottom half on other side of bridge, another KIA without legs and then a bloated corpse that I couldn’t tell whether it had a head or not.

Thnxs for the info

i guess that might be them running an algorithm on twitter
at one point the audio played but the picture didn't.
i can see graphic content on you-tube
just twitter i often have videos blocked
including videos from verified accounts of social media personalities who are not doing anything rude sexual or graphic.

i access the site via desk top computer

i dont surf the net on a cell phone.

thnxs for the description

im guessing there must be something going on with twitter.
i have wondered in the past if im on a watch list
but i have never gone to any web sites for extremism & no criminal history & no convictions & no charges & i have very high security clearance for my job where i was working along side prime-minsters & celebrity's and politicians weekly.
it may be some localized algorithm being trialed secretly by the ISP
(editing has gone nutz & triple spaced everything by default)
((trying to fix it by copy n pasting everything to a fresh edit screen))

that seems to have fixed it
fyi
my father who had terminal cancer blew his head literally right off with a high powered rifle a month or soo before he was told he had to live
and i had to clean up the room where all the brain matter and blood was
the police took his body and the larger parts
but it was quite a mess.
i spent about 2 weeks cleaning up all the fragments off furniture appliance and walls & carpet
that left me with a few issues for a few months
& dad raised me hunting and fishing so im not squeamish & not traumatized by seeing graphic content.
i prefer cute n fluffy but i dont freak out to gore

It's too easy to follow the war like it's a sports event or something. I'm as guilty of that as anyone.

Much as we dislike Putin and the Russian invasion, these are just young guys who got drafted and thrust into this impossible situation. They had friends, hopes, dreams, loved ones, lives. They won't be going home, ever.

Yes, it's the reality of war.
