'Patience is wearing thin': Biden rolls out new vaccine requirements that will affect 100 million workers
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/...ar-AAOfohP

INTRO: Months after proclaiming the U.S. was on the verge of independence from the pandemic, President Joe Biden announced the most stringent federal vaccine requirements yet as the administration looks to combat the spread of a contagious variant of COVID-19 that's driving up daily new cases and once again overwhelming hospitals.

The speech – which laid out a "six-pronged strategy" focused on sweeping vaccination requirements for federal workers and companies with more than 100 employees, increasing school safety protocols and making COVID-19 testing more accessible – was also a tacit acknowledgment that efforts have fallen short of Biden's campaign promise to bring the pandemic under control... Biden declares war on the 80M unvaccinated Americans
https://dailyuknews.com/us-news/biden-de...americans/

EXCERPTS: President Joe Biden on Thursday slammed the 80 million Americans who have yet to get a COVD vaccine shot, asking them ‘what more is there to wait for.’

[...] Biden’s speech was a marked change from previous remarks on the pandemic. He took a harsh tone with those who have not gotten vaccinated and expressed impatience with their decision not to get a shot in the arm.

[...] Biden charged the unvaccinated with ‘overcrowding our hospitals and overrunning emergency rooms intensive care units, leaving no room for someone with a heart attack or pancreatic cancer.’

[...] In his remarks, Biden announced an aggressive new plan to get 100 million employees across the federal government and private sector vaccinated against COVID as the case rate continues to rise due to the Delta variant.

To reach his goal, Biden will use the sweeping power of the federal government, ordering companies to vaccinate workers or face fines of up to thousands of dollars. If the administration hits its 100 million mark that means two-thirds of the country’s workforce would be vaccinated.

He’ll have the Labor Department issue an emergency, temporary order to require all businesses with 100 or more employees to ensure every worker is either fully vaccinated or gets tested at least once a week. The order covers over 80 million employees and it will require employers with 100 or more employees to give employees paid time off to get vaccinated.

Any business that violates the new rule will face substantial fines, up to $14,000... (MORE - details)

If saving their own lives and the lives of others wasn't incentive enough to get vaccinated, a nationwide mandate from the evil liberal tyrant won't really make much of a difference either. This all plays into the rightwing persecutionist narrative of the big leftist conspiracy trying to take away the rights of the common folk afterall. Mark of the beast, Bill Gates' microchips, Hollywood pedophiles, academic brainwashing, and all that.

No, that's you projecting your own conspiratorial nature, as a hasty generalization. There is no conspiracy in leftists wanting more power to tell others what to do. That fact doesn't require postulating anything about Gates, the beast, pedophiles, etc.. Trying to force people to do as you wish is just plain ol' authoritarian.

I'm simply not worried about my own health, and anyone who is should take their own precautions, instead of demanding others curtail their own freedom or choices. Remember, Democrats are supposedly the party of "choice," right? You know, not when it comes to guns, but when it comes to killing babies.

Thing is, most companies are “at will” employers and can terminate you for any reason (you can always sue), which I guess now includes refusing to get the vaccine.

This mandate doesn’t feel right.

And many will sue on religious discrimination grounds, including vegans who don't like that it was tested on animals.

But in the meantime, they lost their jobs.

Isn’t this violating HIPAA?

No, HIPAA only sets privacy restrictions on your healthcare provider. It says nothing about what your employer may ask you to divulge yourself.
As with any personal information that is no one's business, I'll just lie, if need be.

I wonder if all those whining about the covid vaccination now also refused being vaccinated for other diseases that is mandated like measles, meningitis, polio, chickenpox, whooping cough, and hepatitis. I mean it's the same mandate to take something into your body, right? Why weren't these vaccinations wrong? And how does a vaccine interfere with anyone's religious rights? Seems like an awfully convenient excuse to me for someone who just hates laws and government mandates.

MMR was combined in 1971, but the individual vaccines were developed in 63, 67, and 69, (polio vax in 1954) and widespread mandates didn't begin until 1977. On average, that's more than a whole decade of safety data before mandates. The Covid vaccine is also a brand new technology, mRNA vaccine, of which we have zero long-term data. Aside from immigrant visa applicants, MMR mandates were only ever for school children, but proponents of Covid mandates want them to apply to everyone, for travel, employment, places of public accommodation, etc.. No one was ever asked to show proof of MMR vaccination for any of those. Prior to Covid:

The only vaccine required by International Health Regulations is yellow fever vaccination for travel to certain countries in sub-Saharan Africa and tropical South America. Meningococcal vaccination is required by the government of Saudi Arabia for annual travel during the Hajj.

The polio vaccine was less controversial, mainly because it wasn’t initially mandated and because it had been funded by a widely respected nonprofit: the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis, now called the March of Dimes. This reduced opposition based on mistrust of pharmaceutical companies, and most parents willingly got their children vaccinated. The measles vaccine, too, was not particularly controversial because mandates were not initially enforced.

You could also opt out of MMR vaccination or choose home or private schooling. And while only two doses of MMR protect you for life, it's becoming ever more evident that Covid vaccine will need to at least be semi-annual (they are already working to combine the flu and Covid vaccines). Why haven't leftists been screaming for yearly mandated flu vaccines? Because it's about power and control, not saving lives (which is obviously no priority to pro-abortionists).

Some vaccines use products derived from pigs (religiously objectionable to Muslims and Jews) or other animal products or testing (objectionable to vegans, which courts have deem a legit "deeply held" exemption). And it's just a basic human right to not be forced to be a guinea pig. And most moral people are not okay with forcing people to take things into their bodies (uh, consent please).

I wonder if the US is the only country that has basically politicized a pandemic? IMO, that's largely the problem and why there's so much division.
