Let's say we are being observed by aliens. Tales of abduction and anal probing aside.....Why would visual contact (machines) be OK with the aliens but physical not, even if it's just machines driven by machines? Is it our microbial life threatening, as in War of the Worlds? Is there a prime directive .... no interference, despite ufos causing quite a clamour? Or are we like caged hamsters, amusing to look at but so far down the intelligence scale that we're nothing more than a curiosity? Is our atmosphere too corrosive for their machines to operate in the open? Any other reason?

Mind-boggling, how -- in an era of fighter drones, autonomous vehicles, and AI guided spacecraft -- there are experts who still feel that alien spacecraft would have pilots (especially biological ones). As for the "inertial mass reduction device"... Fringe stuff or potentially crackpot in the short term; who knows for the long term. It's in the league of new space travel drive proposals, which probably also provoked its conception. Pais is a good enough engineer to maintain a job with the Air Force, but at least two of his other patents haven't presented successful evidence for themselves (yet).

Indeed! Why frequently appear to people in craft lit up like discos while remaining totally elusive and mysterious? I suspect their intent is to modify our existing paradigm if not consciously then unconsciously. And even then leave us only with more questions than answers. They are hacking into our collective consciousness and installing viruses that will grow and proliferate over time to alter our cultural programs. To get into our collective consciousness one has only to get to one human to imbed the code that will alter history. Hence the predominance of dramatic personal experiences of the ufo phenomena. We are all connected on an unconscious level, and what changes us individually will eventually change the world and even history too.

I’d have an easier time believing in ufos than collective consciousness...one thing at a time MR. 

What I think you’re saying is that the aliens have a master plan for us and they are somehow orchestrating it via physical contact with us.
