I expect you to be an obnoxious alt right incel, to the extent that I respond to you at all. As a general rule I don't.

You've yet to demonstrate that you even know what those words mean, you hateful shut-in. By all means, don't respond. How many times do I have to say it? O_o

No matter your political views everyone, this is a fresh film. It shows the grass roots efforts of four ''everyday'' women running for Congress, with the main focus being Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. I found it interesting how she literally started with no money, just a tremendous drive... and beat out a long standing Democrat.

LOL. AOC's opponent sent a very lame proxy (and that's really saying something, compared to AOC) to a debate with her.

And that "everyday" is a ruse. If you fell for it, you believed what their campaigns wanted you to think.
What do you mean? AOC was waitressing/bartending, seems pretty everyday to me.

I don't side with her politics. I'm very much all for climate change advocacy but not in the extreme, as she wants to take it. It doesn't even sound reasonable or feasible, which is why it's getting little support, even from Democrats. Not sure how long she'll last though if she's terrified of a garbage disposal.  Confused

After growing up in an upper-middle class neighborhood and graduating from Boston University, bartending is as dilettante as saying "I'm going to spend a year backpacking to find myself". Or it's as cynical as planning to run for office and wanting to claim you're "everyday" "Alex from the Bronx" (when you never were).

According to the documentary, and some of her interviews, she's shared that her mom cleaned houses to send her to school, and her dad died when she was in college. He was a small business owner. I don't think she described herself as poor, but think that upper middle class is a stretch, too.

The interesting thing is that a lot of her supporters have turned on her, I think largely over the Amazon deal that she rejected.

Do you want to hear some of the random shit that runs through my head?  It’s a dark-dark place.  Wink

What is darkness? Does it exist? Is it the absence of light? Is it blocked, e.g. shadows? Is it absorption, e.g. vantablack absorbs 99.9%?

What is the speed of darkness? Is it the same as the speed of light?

The entire image behind a prism is displaced—the shadows and even the color black.

Does darkness move? Is it displaced? Is it dispersed? Does absorption occur through the prism or behind the looking glass?  Big Grin

Yorktown Heights, NY has a poverty rate of 6.35%. Its county, Westchester, has a poverty rate of 9.44%, compared to 29.7% in Bronx county.

House cleaning was the "family business" (according to her own bio), so she wasn't just a house cleaner. Her father was an architect and the CEO of Kirschenbaum & Ocasio-Roman Architects.
And while she claims she was bartending to stave off foreclosure on her mom's house, her mom moved to Florida in 2016 to swap a $10,000 a year real estate tax (that exists because of policies advocated by AOC) for $600.

Yeah, if my property taxes were $10,000, I'd have trouble making the mortgage too.

Omg, we could be busy for an entire year, if we molded these questions into thread topics. I love it.  Big Grin

@ Syne, thanks for that info. Damn, sometimes I'm lazy with regards to researching someone's bio, and just believing in propaganda.

What do you make of her win, though? Was it inevitable that anyone could beat Crowley, because he was a ''dirty politician?"

In other news, there's a brand new member who joined SF. And is making friends already, I see. Big Grin I like a good mystery....

Yeah, you have to fact check things for yourself nowadays.

Probably was inevitable. A very progressive district deciding not to reelect the old white guy.
Apparently that district has a long history of electing people who reflect their culture. So it had a long list of Irishmen until the demographics and redistricting significantly changed.

upper middle class in the usa is someone with several houses
a basic net worth of around 25 to 50 million
a yearly income of around 2 to 5 million

basic working class are financialy classed as below poverty line in the basic class system of financial class.

the majority USA working class are only 2 pay cheques away from bankruptcy.

im pro radical mind sets for climate change policy considering that only the most radical seem to be capable of creating a tiny positive change.
the message must be considered radical to all those whom dont wish to change how they live.
plastic production
red meat
gas emissions
etc etc

all those who are attempting to force no change are going against evolution and labeling such policy as extreme to prevent adaptation.
that which does not evolve becomes extinct

amazon are facing some serious possible regulation issues coming very soon
this is going to cost them a lot of money(no where near 3 billion dollars)
they have reached a market saturation point with global tariff wars and middle man sales processes where the global market will become extremely more lower price competitive.

it would be foolish(complete insanity) to throw 3 billion US$ of working class tax money into short term race to the bottom price wars in the retail online shopping market.

how many buildings do you need to build to fit in 25,000 staff into the centre of new york ?
how long will it take to build those buildings ?
where will they put them ?

clever strategic busines move by amazon.
but they stand to lose a lot by turning their company into a political party.
long term bad move by making this a war between amazon and the working class job market.

far better move, building their own business park somewhere with a new build 2 level eco-smart main line that can transit suburban citizens to their work place.

very poor strategic move by whom ever is running this amazon thing.

saveable ?
sure
by bringing AOC on board politically in the idea of building something that children will be able to work in in 15 years time and does not create more traffic over crowding of already over crowded transit systems.

it looks like amazon management may have been taken over by profit leveraging merchants instead of ground breaking innovators.

In the UK we have (temporarily) fallen under the influence of a 16-year-old (Greta Thunberg). At her age she isn't worried about the value of her pension fund or economic growth figures for the last quarter. At best economists speak of 'sustainable growth' - why 'growth'? I live in a very small house (which was also very cheap) and my main concern is that the the lavender hasn't survived the winter so I need to get some more so the bees will come to visit us. The freebees will more than compensate for the cost of the lavender. My cup runneth over.
