Gender games in the news (not a dystopian novel franchise)

Maybe not for you, but even if I was single, I wouldn’t have to use a dating site.

You are single, though, aren't you, Syne?

Quote:But they're not necessarily "nice" in the sense of having a long attention span in terms of listening or paying attention to their significant other's interests and concerns anymore than the so-called sphincter type.

Studying why men have.selective hearing is probably more interesting . A gender trait, at least letting you know even nice guys aren't perfect. Maybe you just summed it up by pointing to that defective gene, it ain't exactly what you focused on when choosing your nice guy.  Big Grin

I didn't judge it either way, and personally, I find online dating sites a very poor replacement for just meeting people IRL.
Not sure where you imagine I've ever given you dating/relationship advice.

You didn't answer my question?  Are you single?  Have you ever been married?

It's a fools errand. No matter what I say, you will, no doubt, feel the need to continue to make whatever implications you think undermine the opinions you disagree with. If married, out of touch with the realities of dating, if dating, ignorant of, at least successful, marriage/relationships, and if single, having always been so. Most adults have been many, if not all those, repeatedly. And each has its own value.

And telling you you don't know what you want, when you are repeatedly and completely unable to define it, is not advice...it's simple observation. An objective fact that you could disprove any time you can muster the requisite self-awareness. But maybe you weren't single long enough to develop that. You're evasion of traits you find attractive would certainly indicate so. Who knows, maybe that's a can of worms you can't afford to open being married...and possibly having settled.

How long has it been since you were dating? How many relationships before getting married? First marriage? O_o

The same can be said of your line of questioning. Still dodging, eh?

First marriage.

Do you have a job?  Own a home?  Any psychological issues?  Taking any medications?

I can work with that.  It's simple really. Varied perspectives.

Peterson is a mess—depression, anxiety, grandiosity, etc.  Maybe it’s not seasonal depression like he thinks.  Maybe he’s bipolar.  Sometimes I think that mental health professionals may actually be more screwed up than the rest of us. I wouldn’t want to be his wife, though.

I was Jordan Peterson’s strongest supporter. Now I think he’s dangerous

Good, then you understood the rhetorical point.

My views on psychological issues and medication have been roundly expressed here. If you don't know them by now, telling you won't help any.
As for the rest, see the above illustrated point.

So...all women think alike? Why are women incapable of varied perspectives? O_o
I believe women can have widely varied perspectives.
Wrong "V" word. Try again.

LOL!

It should be easy for a leftist to concede that not all criticism of conservatives is of equal validity or equal persuasiveness.
...
Let’s start with the bad one, which is Bernard Schiff’s article in The Star, “I was Jordan Peterson’s strongest supporter. Now I think he’s dangerous.”
...
When Peterson first arrived at the university, Schiff says, his “CV was impeccable, with terrific references,” and while Schiff’s colleagues were wary of Peterson—whom they found “eccentric”—Schiff persuaded them that Peterson “was a divergent thinker, self-educated in the humanities, intellectually flamboyant, bold, energetic and confident.” Schiff developed a close personal friendship with Peterson, who was “attentive and thoughtful, stern and kind, playful and warm.”
...
Finally, when Peterson became famous for publicly opposing the expansion of the Canadian Human Rights Act to cover gender and sexual expression, Schiff says he felt betrayed:
I have a trans daughter
...
Why don’t I think Schiff’s article is a very powerful criticism of Peterson? Because, generally speaking, I don’t think calling someone a brilliant, dangerous, maverick who changes lives is a particularly good way of getting people to question them.

Pretty clear motive for Schiff turning on Peterson. Just more intolerance to diversity of thought from a leftist. Rolleyes

It's call validation, deary. What, you're husband not give you enough? What, your husband not inspire you to seek his validation? Just other men?
