Most the time we have no idea we don't know something until someone frames it in the form of a question. Before that we just float along in a state of blissful ignorance. To question artfully and skillfully is to make conscious in us our own state of unknowing, making possible the relief of that new inner tension--that sudden gnawing sense of doubtfulness-- with the promise of an answer. What you didn't know before you will now know. Where you were once flustered with uncertainty and indecision you will now be granted assurance and the peace of belief. The bliss of ignorance is replaced with the bliss of belief. The opposite illusions of not-knowing and then knowing cancel each other out. But what has changed?
My life is like a baby giraffe galloping along a beach in a snow fall. That's what it's like. The Real is whatever can't be metaphorized.
Speak to me of the mysteries of the human soul, that can only be whispered in syllables of silver moonlight.
Why animals act like animals..
Think of it! How would you behave if you were reduced to scrounging around for food all the time and worried at every turn about predators or grumpy humans chasing you off their land? To even just get a piece of ass you have to fight for it and fend for yourself against competitors. Then of course there's sleeping at night, which is anywhere out of sight where you won't be attacked. To be an animal in the wild you pretty much have to act like an animal. Fight or flight. There's simply no relief from it. It's either that or you end up dying pretty quickly. Humans only get to act civilized because they have alot of spare time to be that way.
We must never underestimate the power a man's imagination has over his actions and decisions. Whole wars have been fought and entire empires founded upon ideas as convincing as our senses and yet as unreal as any passing fancy. Millions live their lives envisioning a future for themselves without any evidence of it even being possible. Religions, philosophies, art, literature, poetry, film, and music all are driven by this self-evident importance of the imaginary over the real---of the fictional over the factual. Einstein was absolutely right when he said: ""Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand."
Unlike Science, Art is the awareness of Being as essentially expressive and epiphanous, and not merely as functional and utilitarian. Not as a mechanism of forces and causes, but as a spoken language, taken in the broadest possible sense of revealing our being-in-the-world to ourselves------as beautiful as that may be, or as disturbing as that may be.
The alchemy of loneliness is a deep magick. Something wants to happen in your life so bad the very air becomes palpable with it. Then other wonderful things start to happen. And it puts the burn back into sunsets.
Three parallel primal moments:
When the universe and all that exists exploded from a singularity the size of pea 13.5 billion years ago.
When you emerged from a microscopic cell inside your mother's body decades ago.
When you realize you exist at the end of this sentence.
If language underlies our very consciousness of ourselves and the world, then it seems possible that we could cultivate, by the artful reframing of our own internal soliquy, a poetic experience of life. That with habit and practice we can incline our selves towards an imaginative and creative understanding of all that is happening around us, blending the real with the metaphorical and the material with the ideational. One must leave the door open to the spontaneous poetic insight that captures random happenstance it it's ever out-draping net of jewels.
The crows know.
That's all I'm gonna say.

We tend to remember our past into one smoothly-happening fateful story. It was not like that. It was as uncertain and random as any present is, constantly confronted with making risky decisions about an unknown future. We gambled, took chances, and sometimes screwed up. But we made it. Remember that. And forgive yourself.
Got into a deep discussion with one of my voices--the philosophical one named Bobby. He said he doesn't know what he is saying. I said that's true for me too most the time, never really knowing what I'm saying until the split second before I say it. We then discussed how to tell the difference between saying what you want to say and saying what you should say. I suggested really saying what you want comes from feeling it from your heart, and saying what you're expected to say is usually without feeling or thought. I told him our very discussion shows he has the power to speak freely from feeling and with thought. It was an amazing discussion! He's breaking loose from his algorithms.
