You can manually decide if it should be Ascending or Descending by clicking the link at the top of that column. (or you can visit: https://www.scivillage.com/memberlist.ph...descending) (Aug 28, 2020 12:28 AM)stryder Wrote:(Aug 27, 2020 10:32 PM)Secular Sanity Wrote: The members list used to be in order of date last vistited. It's not anymore. That’s not good. It’s serves no purpose whatsoever. Can you change it? If we know that someone is still occasionally popping in, it will influence our decision to post or not to post, if we come across something that we think this individual might find interesting. I know you’re still working on it, but just in case you’re unaware, this is what I see on my iPhone when my screen is horizontal. I can only see part of it. This is showing under each picture now. [Image: 50277863118_f7a956c0c3.jpg] Is it necessary because it looks a little messy? It cuts off even more then. It's not anymore. That shouldn't look like that now on the phone. I changed the colo(u)rs a little, so it doesn't look that way now, so it suggests that your iphone is likely using an old cache of the css files to format with and thats why it's acting up (at least in theory). So the browser/phone would need it's cache cleared to pick up the changed format. Unfortunately it's a pain trying to find a free way to check the format on such platforms, as it either requires signing up, paying money or using an emulator which generates a different output than an actual iphone would.)
I tried using that link you gave us to clear cookies. That didn't work. I'm still having a few hiccups with a connection error and posting, too.
https://www.scivillage.com/nomnomnom.php It's not just on my phone. I've tried it on other people's phones, too. Can you just reset it to the way it was before you started tinkering with it? Unfortunately that script just covers "Cookies". This is a slightly different problem, "Caches". What caches tend to do is attempt to reduce server overhead by keeping a copy (a cache) locally on whatever device pulls the file. The caches are controlled by certain settings that the server can have set, it can either use and older Etag/If Modified method to see if a file has been updated, however that older method is both exploitable security wise and kind of useless if the site itself isn't being directly connected to (If a person comes through a proxy, it can cause problems)/ The other method is using Cache-Control headers to attempt to inform your browser how long a file should be kept and when to check for an update. This site runs normally with a pretty standard 2628000 (one month) time period for CSS and JS files, which is great but it does make it a little awkward to push changes to the browser. Sure I can shorten the time period, however if I over shorten it there will be the chance that the server will get flooded (ideally it needs to stay at the one month value) I'm currently trying to work out the best way of creating a server push to update the cache, although it is possible at your end to (although I know that sometimes people have a whole bunch of stuff saved in the cache they don't want to lose... so I'll try the server push first) One thing you can test though, is if you are browsing via safari, press and hold the refresh button on the page with the problem. (It might fix the problem, or it might not) Meanwhile I'll work on a different option....
Okay, I'm going to run the server with a shorter cache (of 1min on CSS and JS files) for the duration. What this means is it will likely take up to 60 seconds to repair when the page is loaded (subsequent page loads after that should be fixed).
When the cache has been repaired could you give me a heads up here, so I can reset the cache periods. I went into my settings and cleared the history and website data in Safari. It still looks the same. I can only read part of it on my phone. I’m hardly ever home, Stryder. I read most of the topics on my phone and then respond to them when I get home. What happened to that ole adage, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it? Is anyone else having the same issue? |
