My dad called 'em "Setbacks"... an the largest one shown is about 1/2 inch long an they have been illegal for over 40 years.!!!
The hollow area woud be filled wit a boiled down sap from a particular flower blossem... an delivered by arrow or blow gun... an caused little damage due to the smooth surface which had no protrudin flanges... an wit relative safety woud anesthetize the creature it impaled... an its most lucrative use was in the capture of Gorillas.!!!  

They got ther name because a Gorilla woud often "set back" aganst sompitn before it became unconscious.!!!

No. But it is something you would use on a person,or perhaps sometimes an animal.
