Butte County Fire

irony of the affordability of concepts of fiscal insurance when these type of things happen it certainly shows mother nature has little regard for time or place.

cant really build a sprinkler system that prevents fire storms(per-say).
for a gajillion dollars you could probably build a dome that rolls over the top of your house.
cheaper option would be to build underground with semi hermetic seals. using a normal fire non combustable material to cover the roof so falling embers have nothing to set fire to would be an option.

the house would look like a gravel pit carpark.

have an underground water tank that is also used to cool the house with closed cycle piping and internal filtration.
fire resistant covered solar panels to power the pumps to keep the cooling going and keep toilets flushing and basic electrical.
probably want some type of dead weight pully system to raise ramps for normal access.
remote close up and lock via cell phone if your out of town etc.
seperate service ladder from free standing fire safe shed for climbing in should the main door way motor stop working or you get a short in your battery system etc.

Alyssa is a  Angel  fingers crossed for her & her family  Heart (& the other people im sure there is no shortage of nice folk in bad situations)

C C was right. The smoke was so thick here that we lost satellite coverage.

Just like with the last fires, there’s been some more talk about PG&E being responsible for this one, as well. They haven’t disclosed the cause of the fire, as of yet, but there was an incident report of an outage in the same vicinity about fifteen minutes before the fire started. In the last fires, they were found to be in violation for not maintaining their equipment and controlling the vegetation near the power lines.  What do you think? That makes more sense than climate change, right?

I doubt that there’s any connection but do you remember during last year's fire when I complained that we had an earthquake at the same time? Well, yesterday, since I was stuck inside all day due to the smoke, I thought I might as well get a jump start on the holidays. My son is coming home for Christmas for the first time in three years and he wanted me to make it look like a winter wonderland. I got down all my ornaments and went to work. We have a tradition of buying special ornaments each year. Last year, I found really cool personalized marine helmet. We had a 3.8 earthquake yesterday and it fell to the ground. It broke but I was able to fix it. I love California but some of those other states are starting to look pretty good right now.

Charlie Sheen's parents are okay.

Alyssa Milano's horses, of course, were already safe by that time. Incredibly, James Woods got trashed for crossing party lines: "Alyssa Milano Calls Out People Who Shamed James Woods For Helping Evacuate Her Horses In California Wildfire". Reflexively, one might consider that coming from some of the alt-right loons, but it might have been a mix of trolls involving a reality-impaired faction from the SJW / antifa side, too.

Alyssa has full time trolls dedicated to her social media feeds.
they are quite obviousely cult members and should be monitored by the FBI.
The big question is, are they organised and/or directed by someone and if that person has any political affiliations or is being paid to do so.

it is not uncommon for narccissists & sociopaths to join together in an informal group for a common cause.
they act in a manner of OCD that they feed off each other from in a sense of mania toward something or someone.

ive grown up around a heady mix of middle of the road conservatives to ultra conservatives to left wing conservatives all mixed in with liberals and people who reject all politics.
ive socialised (on occasion) with nationalists, ultra nationalists(right wing capitalists or ecconomic democrats) through to communists and idealogically confused republicans(generic) & Socialists.
so i know decent people can be civil regardles of their political beliefs.

targetting people for attack because of their political beliefs is an anti-social sociopathic act of political violence to serve the twisted ego of the individual.

Now Yaz has disappeared. Without him updating things, I'm too lazy to check to see if a dense barrier of smoke has accumulated over the San Jose area, that's obstructing satellite internet.

Two days ago: "The rest of the Bay Area is suffering similar effects, ranging from a low of 'potentially unhealthy' in San Jose Friday morning (101 AQI) up to 189 in Santa Rosa. Bay Area residents should keep doors and windows closed and minimize time outside, as fire conditions will likely persist for several more days." --Butte County fire sends haze all the way to the bay

The Butte Sheriff reports 14 additional fatalities have been found. Four were in a little hamlet called Concow, two of these in vehicles and two in houses. Ten additional fatalities have been found in Paradise, seven in houses and three outdoors. This raises the current Butte County total to 23 fatalities.

Official fire perimeter map as of Friday from Cal Fire here. I believe that several of the little towns around the edges have been overrun over the weekend, including Magalia to the north and Concow to the south.

Now it's up to 29 Butte County fatalities. The six newest ones are all in Paradise, 5 in homes, one in a car.

This ties the worst California fire death toll since 1933.

In an earlier post I wrote:

And it appears that they are.

I've heard that the University of Nevada Reno has sent similar forensic anthropology people to recover and help identify remains. (That process remains under the supervision of the local coroner and medical examiners, but these can use all the additional hands-on-deck they can get.)

Census of animals at the three animal shelters:

https://twitter.com/NVADG/status/1062144317307797504

It includes 443 cats, 349 dogs and 108 rabbits at the two small animal shelters, and 130 regular horses, 6 miniature horses and 77 goats at the large animal shelter, even one alpaca.
