When does life begin?

Personally, I believe that ''life'' begins at conception. If a woman has a miscarriage, doubtful that anyone would tell her to ''get over it'' because it wasn't a life, yet. Friends of mine who have undergone abortions, still struggle with their choices. While many women might go through something like that emotionally unscathed, many don't. Why are so many women distraught years later after having an abortion or miscarriage, if they didn't believe that a life had been terminated? I don't judge anyone's choices, but I think that the debate centers around a commonly accepted fallacy, that has morphed into society's narrative. (Again, this is just my personal opinion. I'm not seeking agreement, just sharing my stance.)

There was a recent set of crimes committed by a guy in Colorado who killed his pregnant wife, and he is being charged with four murders. (He killed his other children, as well) If it weren't a life, why is the state charging him with murdering his unborn child? These types of stories always cause me to pause, and wonder how our society can be so divided on this issue.

The inconsistency is pretty clear.
