You are clearly blind. Who are you to speak with authority on the matter?

Your intrusion is aggravating.

And many consider spoken prayer to be more for the benefit of others (trying to appear pious or leading a prayer in a unified effort) rather than god or oneself.
"Repeat after me" sounds like either a Catholic thing or leading someone who doesn't know how to pray, like a new convert.

Praying out loud to ward off demons is just superstition.

From what I read, Ostro seems to maintain that the demons have the advantage when it comes to silent prayer. If so then it is just plain stupid to pray in silence. My point is this, the entity at the centre of cosmic consciousness, the Grand Poopah is less tuned in to thought prayer than demons. Makes me wonder what Ostro's getting when he meditates prior to meeting the big Guy. How does he know it's not.a.demon in disquise at the door? I sense contradiction.

Well, personal, internal "demons" do speak with the same voice, yours, in your own head. But that's just a basic failure to judge thoughts by their own content. Speaking them aloud wouldn't really help, unless someone you trust tells you they're stupid. Has nothing to do with god or demons.

Ostro is actually losing the struggle with his inner demons because he is granting them agency beyond what his own attention lends them.

The first part of your response is correct. Only loud prayer and assertiveness is a measure of how much one can ward away a demon. As for demon in disguise, it's not possible, you can't fake divinity and monstrosity or abomination (emphasis added). They naturally reveal themselves.

It's OK folks, the demons are not very good at being demons. Nothing to.worry about. Unless of course they have Ostro thinking exactly the way they want him to, child's play for a really good demon.

I think a bad demon would be capable of putting horns on a good demon and a halo around his own noggin. I mean what kind of self respecting demon would want to appear like a demon. They're demons for God's sake, I don't expect.the expected from them, why should anyone else?

I think your assumption comes from the fact that the Devil and demonic entities are known for trickery and deceit. But when it comes to expressing themselves, their hideousness is obvious. I like how you attempted to make me look gullible with that though, but it is clearly a flawed argument. I am not gullible about most thngs. Btw, speaking of gullibility, an argument Lucifer himself would use is that those who believe in the supernatural are gullible in an attempt to bury the truth about reality.

I didn't try testing your gullibility near as much as you've attempted to test others'. I don't need to test yours.

Although there may be elements of both, the 2 words I detest most when discussing religion are brainwash and gullible (or derivatives of). I feel if anyone needs to use either in a philosophical/religious argument then it's a realization they have failed to make their point. It's a last gasp effort to save face.

I'm not gullible so don't call me that.

Religion is full of metaphorical myth in order to give a thoughtful (or lack thereof) portrayal of God. However, my experiences with God are the real deal.

I rest my case.

You only get that sort of reaction from people who are genuinely afraid they may be.
