London murder rate overtakes New York's
http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-london-43610936

EXCERPT: . . . City Hall says it is "deeply concerned" by knife crime in the capital, but, along with the Met Police, insists London "remains one of the safest [cities] in the world".

In January, the Met investigated eight murders whereas the NYPD looked into 18 killings

By February, the NYPD's figures had dropped to 11, while London's rose to 15

In March, 22 murders were investigated in London while 21 inquiries were launched in New York

When the figures are weighted for population, the rate of murders per 100,000 people was higher in London than in New York in February and March.

Tottenham shooting: Girl, 17, dies from gunshot wound
http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-london-43624392

EXCERPT: Friends said the girl, named locally as Tanesha Melbourne, was killed "for no reason" in Tottenham on Monday night. The Met has confirmed she died when "shots were fired" from a vehicle as it drove past a group of young people.

Two miles away, in Walthamstow, the boy was found with gunshot wounds, with another boy, 15, who had stab injuries.

[...] David Lammy, Labour MP for Tottenham, said he was "deeply worried" about London's rise in violent crime - particularly in his area. "There is no single cause, but there has been a big spike in both gun crime and knife crime across London," he said.

[...] Tottenham resident said: "It's so violent around here. I nearly got stabbed the other day. If you've been around Tottenham a long time you get it."

[...] "We have already consulted on new laws on offensive and dangerous weapons, including banning online stores from delivering knives to residential addresses and making it an offence to possess certain weapons in private."

It isn't just what the BBC insists on calling "knife crime".

London has become the world's capital for acid attacks, where criminals throw acid in people's faces, disfiguring or even blinding them, merely to take their motor-bikes, cell-phones or wallets.

In neither case is the knife or the chemical responsible for the attack. In every case there is a human perpetrator involved. But what nobody in British media or politics (including the police brass) seemingly wants to address are the persons who are wielding the knives and chemicals. (That's because the elites fear that the perpetrators may be disproportionately black, Muslim, working-class or of immigrant ethnicity. All groups that are components of powerful political coalitions.)

So nothing is done, things continually get worse, and Sadiq Khan (the Great Khan of Londonistan) still insists that London is the safest big city on Earth in spite of all the growing evidence to the contrary.

I was just about to mention the acid attacks, Yaz. You beat me to it.

It's only guns that are imbued with some mystical agency of their own, that they need to be fought instead of the wielder.

Apparently it's already illegal to carry a multi-tool, with a locking knife blade (a safety feature) of any length, in the UK.

"The gun homicide rate in England and Wales is about one for every 1 million people, according to the Geneva Declaration of Armed Violence and Development, a multinational organization based in Switzerland.

In a population of 56 million, that adds up to about 50 to 60 gun killings annually. In the USA, by contrast, there are about 160 times as many gun homicides in a country that is roughly six times larger in population. There were 8,124 gun homicides in 2014, according to the latest FBI figures."--- https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/worl.../85994716/

I had to look up who Sadiq Khan is and why he should be so hated. All I could find on a quick Google search was alt right Breitbart news headlines about this mayor of London being Muslim and optimistic about the city of London. What a vile douchebag! I guess I'm not up on the latest anti-muslim hype.

Comparing gun crimes between countries that have huge discrepancies in the number of guns is intellectually dishonest or lazy. Try comparing violent crimes and murder, committed by any means.

Violent crime > Murders

United Kingdom:
722 Ranked 34th.

United States:
12,996  Ranked 9th. 18 times more than United Kingdom

http://www.nationmaster.com/country-info...ates/Crime

Same source:
Rape victims: Twice as many as US
Murders > WHO: 18% more than United States
Assault victims: 2 times more than United States

The US also ranks 85th in ethnic diversity, where the UK only ranks 109th. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_co...sity_level
That has an impact.
