Is evolutionary psychology a deeply flawed enterprise?

EXCERPT: We were discussing the field of evolutionary psychology at our local cafe scientific meeting last week. The discussion was prompted by watching a video of Steven Pinker in conversation with Stephen Fry. I pointed out that the field of evolutionary psychology is a mess and many scientists and philosophers think it is fundamentally flawed. The purpose of this post is to provide links to back up my claim. There are several good sources of information that can be consulted. The Wikipedia articles note the controversial nature of evolutionary psychology. The article by Stephen M. Downes on the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy site is very comprehensive. It include an extensive discussion of the potential flaws in evolutionary psychology. [...] I think there's a broad consensus among evolutionary biologists as well. The critique from biologists is summarized by Robert C. Richardson (a philosopher) in his book *Evolutionary Psychology as Maladapted Psychology*. [...] You may disagree with these criticisms of evolutionary psychology but there's no denying that the discipline is being attacked. In fact, it's hard to think of any other academic discipline whose fundamental validity is being questioned so openly...

Nonsense. This sort of criticism seems to come from the leftist demand that all behaviors are culturally rather than naturally motivated. To deny evolutionary psychology outright, they would have to prove that evolution has no bearing on the same reproductive mating behavior that accounts for new sexually selected traits.

More trolling in lieu of anything on-topic.

Is there any dispute that leftists are the ones who say many things are only social constructs?
If so, why don't you make an argument against it?

Because we all know you don't give a rat's ass. You're only trolling me in lieu of your actual on-topic, but impotent, arguments.
And we all know this is hypocritical, considering your regular demonizing of conservatives/Republicans/Christians/right-wingers.

So this accusation is only obvious projection of your own behavior.
Since you can't argue you way out of a paper bag, you have to resort to poisoning the well.

I not only encouraged you to post on the topic of this thread, I proved your utter trolling hypocrisy (with posts you've made in the last 2 weeks...didn't take long to find).
And again, obviously you don't understand the simple difference between blame and responsibility.
Are you asserting that "liberal" and "leftist" are synonyms?

Do you have any thoughts at all about evolutionary psychology? Or does that threaten your sexual identity?

Just trying to get you to engage with the actual topic of this thread. Apparently, getting you to quit off-topic trolling is like pulling teeth.

Again, any thoughts at all about evolutionary psychology? Hell, I even spoon fed you an easy angle on it, baby bird. Maybe go ask momma SS to hold your hand so you can post on big bad scary subjects.

I could be wrong but I think MR may be older than me. I think he handles you just fine on his own. In fact, whenever I peek in on your little squabbles, I think "Oh, yeah! Who's your daddy, Syne?"

I've long been a believer in evolutionary psychology. Witness the relentless tribal politics and venom-spitting of your tiny spastic reptilian brain...
