Quote:Failure to comprehend a subject may result in one of two opposites: 1. self-defeat and surrender, or 2. further pursuit leading to triumph. You simply fall under the category of 1. And so any further attempt to explain the theory of metaphysics will inevitably be fruitless.
Again, I am a skeptic, so naturally the above quote falls into the distinctively dubious category. It's one man's opinion. Why care? You worried about failure? About winning? I don't think you worry enough. I've been on many of these discussions over the years and the one common denominator is that no one can explain metaphysics or should I say the Unified theory of Metaphysics, like the TOE in some regards. But that's probably because to do so is an impossible task. You take Plato's side whereas I'm comfortable with Hume and I'll guarantee that they are resoundingly opposite explanations. I think Leigha said it best, (Paraphrasing)we have two opposite ways of looking at life, religion, reality, etc.
My main purpose for contesting your new found religion is to not let you get comfortable with it. I do that for every religion someone wants to pump on a forum where I'm a member. It's much harder to do here because certain restrictions have been removed, ie citation. It's your freedom of speech and mine, a tie game, no one wins when proof takes a back seat to opinion. Its not a flaw of the forum's because that freedom is something I've interpreted in its mandate or I know is present just by observing it's title (Casual Discussion).
Chew on this.... There's is nothing metaphysical. Everything, if one looks hard enough, will have a natural explanation. So even if God traipses around on some other ethereal plane of existence, then it's a natural thing. All of what exists, no matter what form you imagine it or observe it as, is natural. If God started it all then that's what it is, natural would include the Almighty himself, can't be anything else. Why is that so hard to comprehend.*
* No citation or proof required makes this an opinion. That's what we have here, opinions and nothing else.
