The mystery deepens.

Spoke too soon. Last one in post #502 is working.

If I turn off View source (Ctrl + Shift + S) in the full post editor, the video actually shows up in the edit box, but previewing the post it doesn't. This leads me to believe that it's not a YouTube problem but a forum problem.

The method used embeds a template that uses a "Sandbox" iframe that attempts to address some XScripting concerns (although not all) The reason for using the youtube-nocookie.com domain is as stated to try to remove the need for cookies being set by youtube as a third-party.

It is possible that it's youtubes internal DRM for "hotlinking" being triggered by trying to access a youtube (or youtu.be domain) rather than through the nocookie domain. That's why some video's will show and others won't.

Might be effected by the youtube video makers deciding on if they set it for revenue via advertising or not.

That's my guess anyway, since it's definitely intermittent.

I wonder why all the videos are visible on my phone, though? Either way, thanks for the update stryder.

I just need to add more description for even the ones displaying for me, since the content of the video face isn't going to be showing for somebody on an _X_ device at an _X_ location, somewhere.

The two science-related videos I checked on elsewhere are okay, so I'm just going to pretend they always work and not bother (regardless). Hopefully it's a music recording industry thing.

If the forum software is not responsible, why does it work in the post editor?

There were Jacques Stotzem and Alexandr Misko instrumental versions of this weeks ago on solo guitar, but I didn't complement those with a non- Kurt Cobain vocal version of it.

Some songs are not meant to be sung in either a sweet or a silky way. I just like this cover for no other reason than that Lisa Dei Cas doesn't try to prettify "Come As You Are" in some manner, like 99% of the female singers on any continent usually do. She even flashes the corna at the end. (Not the University of Texas Longhorns meaning.)

Obviously recorded during the lockdowns last year. (The cap doesn't resemble the one Elisabeth Doppler wore on Dark, but it still strangely reminded me of it.)

Yet another belated vocal complement, this time to Garbriella Quevedo's solo guitar cover of "Sultans of Swing" back on May 6.

Don't judge this to be the best that Milena Keimig can do, since she's simply trying to stay true to Mark Knopfler's almost pseudo-monotonic, plain-speak singing style on the original.

Have no idea who the acoustic guitarist is Wink, but he's pretty good. Surely an overhead whoosh moment I'm experiencing.

Also, here is Lucas Imbiriba's solo version of SoS: https://youtu.be/sS1WYIu_gA4

That you can contrast with Quevedo's performance at the top: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fqfHLsT1b0o

Might be the reason the videos show on your phone.

The problem also appears to be down to the no-referrer policy. As you might or might not know, when you access a page it's possible for the browser to send a "referrer" which is the URL it was accessed on to the server. This can be used (although spoofing is possible) in various scenarios to tighten as to which scripts are accessed and where from. Youtube apparently likes to know where the access is from, so if the no-referrer is not set then it will work. It's just Google can still produce analytics as to which page and where online the access was initiated from, while it's not a problem per say, it is incredibly nosey.

I'll look to incorporating a workround/fix for it.

Update: I've replaced the no-referrer entry (which wouldn't send a URL) with a "Strict-origin", that will only send the domain and not the page/string the request was made from.

What I think it was caused by is if a youtube uploader uses a white or blacklist, it automatically requires a referrer to exist for their list to be tested against. If their is no-referrer (not data sent) then it automatically blocks embedding.
