VIDEO EXCERPT: So Charles Barkley, you've got to give me a list then. If you think the Democrats don't like ICE [its purpose], they don't like prisons, they don't like cops, and they do want open borders [and some want socialism]. Okay. So give me a list of 10 Democrats who are not on board with [much of] that. And I can't find that list. I've got John Fetterman and that lady that I bumped into at the supermarket. Like that's it.
So, Barkley, you are in essence a Republican right now. It doesn't mean you have to go and punch the card, but congratulations, you are a Republican [if you believe those political positions are crazy or stupid]. Another one who might be on his way, and this one is kind of interesting, although he hedges his bets here a little bit. I'm not holding my breath that he'll walk across. Is Chris Rock.
CHRIS ROCK: The problem with, you know, quote unquote wokeness. And don't get me wrong, it is great that marginalized people have a voice. It is great to advocate for anybody that feels marginalized. This is great. But the problem with wokeness is we're in the Old Testament right now. Okay? And the Old Testament has no forgiveness.
The Old Testament didn't work. So they had to write a remix called the New Testament. There's been this discussion lately about the Woke 1.0 era. Which I think refers to how the immediate post-George-Floyd era was, you know, crazy. People say Woke 1.0 was crazy. And like AOC is distancing herself from that. And other Democratic politicians are doing the same thing.
>> But was that moment in time just a really crazy moment or was there also something redeeming about it?
>> I think I just answered that. Again, it's great to help those that need help. That is amazing, we need more of that. Yet the problem is when you institutionalize it, that becomes the problem.
The Salem witch hunts. You know, the first three witches they caught were actually witches. But then you open up a Witch Hunt Office, and now you've got to start lying. Now you've got to make ___ up because you've got overhead.
>> You have to justify paying the witch hunters.
>> Yeah, you got to justify the witch hunters' pensions.
[...] As a stand-up comedian myself, I recall Chris Rock as someone who actually was politically incorrect for years and years and years. I don't know where he's been the last couple years. He hasn't done that much. But for someone who is a cutting-edge comedian, you might want to make sure that the people who don't want you to say certain things are the ones that don't get power because they will come after you too. That's what he's basically saying there...
