You've never entertained a dangerous thought in your whole life have you?

Oh, so you love monsters because it's "dangerous"... and probably titillating for you.
Like the psychos who want to marry murders while they're in prison.

If you were, yourself, dangerous, you wouldn't be enamored by it.

A monster is a pariah and an outcast from birth. It gets used to living in the loveless aloneness of its condition. So being itself, being inevitably the monster everybody hates and mocks, it has nothing left to lose. Might as well be the one thing it was meant to be. Might as well embrace the only thing it was ever allowed to be. Who among us is brave enough to throw caution to the wind and love our monsters?

Well, antagonists are vital to fiction and often even non-fictional narratives. Authors and writers have to creatively ponder them.

Cathy was the "monster" in Steinbeck's book. Here the TV mini-series seems to be a backstory for before the arrival in the Salinas Valley and the twins being born. But it's still called "East of Eden" rather than some prequel title. So it must eventually make it to the events involving Adam's and Cathy's sons, even if that's limited to the final one or two episodes. Zoe Kazan seems to be telling the tale from Cathy's POV.

One doesn't think dangerous thoughts because their dangerous. One thinks them despite their danger. Ofcourse you wouldn't know this having never ventured beyond the bouncy house of safe and repeated opinions all your life.

Again: "If you were, yourself, dangerous, you wouldn't be enamored by it."

Wishful thinking that you could be formidable are not dangerous thoughts. Although I get how they would scare you.

Remember, I've lived in Portland, I've spent time homeless and in dangerous neighborhoods. When have you spent any time not the ward of the Navy, your family (nepotism), or VA disability?

Again, one doesn't think dangerous thoughts because they're dangerous. One thinks them despite their danger. But go ahead and strut around bragging about your homeless street cred for no reason. I think it's precious.

LOL! You keep talking about things you clearly have zero real-world experience with.

I have no experience with danger or monsters? How would you possibly know that?
