Even though this get-together of several reviewers was posted after the video above, I'm pretty sure this is before Alan Ng and Chris Gore actually watched it at the theater.

Pretty sure that's a line that Millie Alcock said in one of her interviews. It's all made so like young girls watching it can project themselves onto this character and feel better about themselves. Like, you can be messy. You're totally fine. You're fine just the way you are. There's no need for self-improvement.

You don't have to look up to a superhero and see this superhero as virtuous and amazing and beautiful and gorgeous and look up to that person and feel bad about yourself. Because that person is someone that is not attainable. It's not anything you're ever going to be.

[...] You can be messy and frumpy and not have to take care of yourself, not have to put any makeup on. And you know what? Just care about yourself, and that'll be enough. This is something that is attainable for you...

[...But...] why on earth wouldn't you want to improve yourself, if there was some room for improvement? Why wouldn't you want to be better than yourself, better than you actually are?

I think it just does a disservice to the character completely, and she's not really helping the marketing. [...] I don't want to see a movie about myself. I want to see something better than me.

[...] James Gun's been around and doing this for a long time. He's seen what does and what doesn't work. And he's seen this exact thing and this exact approach not work. It does not bring in the male audience, which is what it needs. I don't think the female audience is going to show up in droves for this kind of film, even when it's Supergirl [there are not enough nerds among them].

Saw Gunn's Superman recently. Complete garbage, without a single redeeming character, message, or even just a worthwhile ride.

How about this: movies just staying true to the artform, not trying to teach anyone anything but simply showing us who we are as humans and what might be possible for us. It's just art afterall, not a Sunday School lesson. And as Banksy put it: "The purpose of art is to comfort the disturbed, and disturb the comfortable."

I guess that shows some people who they are.
It's like how Graham Platner is accepted by the left, as if you're only authentic if you're a disgusting human with a closet full of skeletons. Must be a mirror for many of the "don't judge me" left.

I guess the problem is that reviewers can't talk about the plot due to spoilers, so they just aim at unattached things to criticise.

What if they had done the inverse? a 1 1/2 hour snore fest of a girl twizzering her eyelashes and playing to various product brand names for painting her up. Would the critics of preferred that? Perhaps in the future there should be a special one off feature just for the critics that does just that. Would be interesting to see the reactions then.

Apparently Jason Momoa as Lobo was a highlight in the movie. He does seem to be ideal for the role, and many waited forever for him to finally play it.
