The Jewish exodus from Canada is going... to Tulsa, Oklahoma? (#1 Trump state style)

VIDEO EXCERPTS: This is an issue that we need to talk about and deal with. Is there a safety issue for Canada's Jewish community? People that I'm talking to are saying yes.

Of course, we saw Prime Minister Mark Carney hold his speech at Holy Blossom Temple in Toronto the other day and admit that the Canadian covenant isn't working. His solution is to form a committee. His committee to study anti-semitism has absolutely angered the Jewish community because it's filled with people some see as anti-Semites. So what is the state of all of this?

Michael Zach is someone who knows Canada's Jewish community well. He's an American but lived in Canada for 30 years [his wife is Canadian] and his family recently left the Vancouver area for Tulsa, Oklahoma. He joins me now from there. He is with the organization Jewish Tulsa.

[...] Well, first of all, thank you, Brian, and it's great to be here with you. Mark Carney's recent announcement yesterday was the straw that broke a lot of Canadian Jews' backs after over two years of inaction to get to something that is still going nowhere. I think a lot of Jews have kind of said, "All right, that's enough. We've reached our point."

[...] I'm sure Mark Carney is a great guy ... The problem is I just think that there is false understanding that they know what to do. ... A lot of the people who are contacting me are everyday Canadians. A wide variety from doctors to truck drivers that are saying, like, we don't see a future here. We don't see a future in Canada.

[...] I have to ask you about your choice of Tulsa in Oklahoma. ... When you think of leaving Canada -- because it's not safe to be Jewish in Canada-- and you say, well, where are you going to go? New York and LA have two of the biggest Jewish communities in the world. Why not a city like that?

[...] There definitely is an active Jewish community in Tulsa. I mean, the Jewish community in Tulsa has been here for over 100 years. Very active, very ingrained in society and interwoven into the community and into the city.

A few of the things why my family made the decision. One of them was the cost of living. You know, LA, New York, the cost of living is very comparable to Vancouver. So, it didn't make much sense to move into that again.

[...] And I came down here to Tulsa, and we fell in love with it. I mean, there is nobody that can understand the level of warmth that you can feel when you step off an airplane until you come to Oklahoma. You come here and you can feel it right away.

We did our son's bar mitzvah here. All of our family and friends that came from Canada were just like, "This is this is one of our favorite places to come visit."

[...] I mean, the economy is phenomenal. There's great opportunity. Tulsa is this little bubble in Oklahoma that has arts and theater and lots of tech startups. It has a lower cost of living, low taxes. These are the kind of things that we looked for...

Any place that has the Bob Dylan Center might be make it anttractive, seeing how Robert Allen Zimmerman was or still is Jewish. Also Woodie Guthrie Center, apparently his wife was Jewish and their kids were raised as such. One time oil town, not sure if still is. Their police homicide unit was a regular on First 48 crime show. In the end they just may feel safer there.

I wouldn’t live in some parts of Canada either. Never heard anyone tell me they hate Jews. Ancestry.com says I have some Jewish blood in me but I tell no one, too many nut jobs out there. No urge to move to Tulsa.

Feeling the stress surely depends on where they live. Lots of anti-Zionist protests in Toronto. Didn't realize there was that much in Vancouver, though. There are only circa 400,000 Jews in Canada versus approaching two million Muslims. So Canadian Jews just don't have the political clout that they enjoy in America (i.e., those in Canada whining about their concerns being ignored).
