DIY: Why are populists in the UK so much more into protests?

RELATED (scivillage): UK fury over body cam footage of dying Henry Nowak being arrested

There are no contemporary George Floyd level uprisings in the US over white guys being mistreated by authorities. Yet in the UK...

My guess is that many of these proles obviously had past family roots in Labour. Demonstrations are a core attribute of the Left going back to the Marxist revolutionaries of the 19th-century. So when part of bluecollar culture became disaffected with the Party and felt alienated by the Establishment, they simply brought that militancy along with them and perversely directed it back at the institutions that had formerly postured as their paladins.

In contrast... There are many questionable cases of white victims of police in the US. Yet those are usually ignored in terms of massive street outrage because that kind of overt activism just isn't native to non-union traditionalists in North America. Yes, there are far-right organizations like the Proud Boys engaging in clashes with antifa groups, but those don't count as average working class society participating. And the "Church Lady" circles of the pre-1950s era protesting against liquor, prostitution, and various obscenities in entertainment and art are 95% defunct. (And were they ever physically aggressive?)

The legacy media does try to portray UK populists as right-wing hoodlum clubs, but most just don't look it. Wink They appear more like "ordinary folk" with all the "backward" social characteristics that literary intellectual elites despise. The same crusading proles of the past doing what they've always done, but now rebelliously turning against sectors of the Left hegemony that was once their Lord Protectors.

Starmer predictably goes the other way now. (Whereas Nigel Farage "spuriously and opportunistically" speaks out about a two-tier system.)

Thanks to the double standards, the nice thing about such is that police can finally get defended by the establishment when the "victim" is white, and the protesters are populists. Whereas -- if things were reversed (at least in the US) -- and it was the equivalent of antifa or left-wing groups engaging in "disorder", the rowdy activity would instead be described as "peaceful demonstrations", and many outcries for police being defunded (or etc) would be issued.

Again, though, the unique or freakish thing about the UK is that the proles actually express outrage in the streets over incidents like this, whereas in the US the non-union bluecollar and rural working class often has a distaste for intense protesting in general, deeming it a leftie attribute or practice.

Violent protests are not the way to get reforms done period. The protests themselves are just engineered from picking on the focal points of the disenfranchised and this is usually done by people that are sowing discord from outside of the country itself.

Even Musk actively suggests that the UK should have a civil war, which the numbtys that use his platform are dumb enough to actually try.

It's not so much they are neo-nazi's or thugs, it's they just aren't too bright when it comes to being hand-puppet fucked by foreign interference.

Only in cities and states, but that unrest makes for more news fodder than red state law and order, police funding, arrests made, etc..

Considering their next general election (the chance to change the government) doesn't occur until 2029, seems it might take a lot to get comfy politicians to do anything even vaguely opposed to their ideology.... like, the will of the people.
