Plenty of mentally unstable people blame a large variety of people, corporations, technologies, organizations, etc. for their ills. And they would be laughed out of court if they tried to bring suit. Bill Maher Rips Into Dems, Kamala For Mocking Patriotism Until They Need Votes

"You can’t take back the flag in an hour if the rest of the time you treat patriotism as something vaguely embarrassing."

Comedian Bill Maher scorched Democrats — former Vice President Kamala Harris chief among them — for ignoring and even mocking the idea of patriotism until they needed to win elections.

Maher, during his Friday broadcast of HBO’s “Real Time,” scolded Democrats who were refusing to celebrate the United States as it passed it’s 250th anniversary, arguing that they were only making themselves look petty and small in their efforts to attack President Donald Trump.

“This is about America. He isn’t America. He’s a temporary caretaker of America, America’s employee. And the message should be that America isn’t actually his and that no one’s side gets to own being psyched about the country,” Maher argued.

Maher went on to argue that a lot of the dire events Democrats had predicted had failed to materialize — not the least of which being their fear that Trump would barricade himself in the White House and refuse to leave after losing in 2020 — before he turned on the former vice president.

Jabbing at Harris’s 2024 call for Democrats to “take back the flag,” he pointed out that eleventh-hour conversions would never be convincing.

Harris, during her speech, claimed that the “pride of being an American” was truly the “greatest privilege” anyone could even experience — but Maher was not buying it.

“The message that most threatens authoritarians isn’t America sucks. It’s America is ours too. Every election year, Democrats seem to remember patriotism for about an hour at their convention when they’re trying to win back swing voters. The whole message of Kamala’s speech in 2024 was take back the flag. That’s why she talked about America like a pageant contestant,” Maher said. “Hard to believe she lost, huh? Well, you can’t take back the flag in an hour if the rest of the time you treat patriotism as something vaguely embarrassing.”
