VIDEO INTRO: Something I've always found super cool and charming about Andy Weir is his ability to tell it like it is. Now, it gets him into a little bit of trouble. I guess with some of the mainstream establishment, not much.
But it reminds me of a few weeks ago when he went on Critical Drinker, which you're also not supposed to do apparently, and then mentioned that he was pitching Star Trek and that they declined him. And he also was not shy about talking about modern Star Trek and just how bad it's been on a lot of levels, which he's done before.
He's talked about that before, just about how he wishes it wasn't political and that he just wants to see Romulans and Klingons shooting at the Enterprise or whatnot. He got in big trouble with this. He said, "F them, I guess, cuz they're not going to pick up my pitch."
And people in Hollywood gave him grief over this and eventually he issued an apology for being mean. Basically, he didn't take back what he said about Star Trek, though, which is absolutely correct.
Well, now he's going in on the Game of Thrones ending. He actually did an AMA Reddit and answered a few questions, which are really interesting, which I want to get into here today.
[...] Let's get into the news of Andy Weir, who's trashing the Game of Thrones finale in a Reddit AMA and pitching a Breaking Bad and Dexter rewrites. Pretty funny stuff. And he's doing it very much in good nature. He's not angry or anything like that. You could tell he's just having fun on his Reddit AMA.
[...] Somebody said, "Hi, Andy. If you could rewrite the ending to any book or movie, which book or movie would you choose?" And he says, "Can I pick TV shows instead?" Well, he definitely can't pick Game of Thrones as a as a book because there is no ending.
[...] He says, "I'm going to say yes." He says, "I would rewrite the entire final season of Game of Thrones. That's a given." Yeah. That ending was atrocious....
