Holy crap!

I already want to see this movie!

From that second trailer, it looks like dynamite. Spielberg might have another blockbuster on his hands.

I just did a web search on the movie and they seem to be very secretive about what it is that's... disclosed.

Somebody... the government?... wants to keep it all hushed up. It has something to do with Roswell and with grand 'Close Encounters' style appearances in the sky. And with some here among us who aren't... human.

The religious overtones seem to be strong, as they were with 'Close Encounters'.

The animals seem attuned to it.

So I'm guessing that what's disclosed isn't so much the aliens, as whatever the aliens have come here to disclose to us humans... the next stage in our spiritual ascent or something cosmic like that. A transformation that might not leave us human any longer...

If so, I'm reminded of Arthur Clarke's famous novel Childhood's End.

Yes! I often wonder how humanity WOULD react to such a momentous event. Some might go insane from it, experiencing what is called “ontological shock.” Others will simply be in denial. And still others would likely embrace it in the most spiritual of terms. Why? Because humanity has no other way to relate to the discovery of an advanced alien presence. Our brain circuitry is simply not evolved enough to deal with that.

But what all humans DO have is a very ancient and spiritual circuitry that casts the experience of unknownness into divine and supernatural terms. So something as earth-shattering and decentering as disclosure to the human species might initially stimulate all sorts of religious narratives and mythologems in humans in their struggle to label it and so rationally control it. And tied firmly to that is the whole issue of human identity itself--the basic archetype of who we collectively are and what our place is in this vast universe. But Such a powerful and unprecedented turn of events would ultimately shatter all our models/idols we use to understand reality with, triggering what can only be called a universal transformation of consciousness itself. In metaphorical terms, new wine poured into old bottles.
