Quote:No, as noted earlier, it just means that wealth, itself, is not sinful. No..it just means more Christians center their lives around money and having things than they do living in service to God. It's one of the pernicious outcomes of living in a capitalistic and consumerist society. Hebrews 13:5 Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” 1 Timothy 6:10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs. Ecclesiastes 5:10 He who loves money will not be satisfied with money, nor he who loves wealth with his income; this also is vanity. Luke 12:15 And he said to them, “Take care, and be on your guard against all covetousness, for one's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.” Quote:Sure, because we see Christians driving Lamborghinis all the time. 9_9 Nobody gets wealthy by accident. It takes a lot of commitment and work to build up wealth and property and possessions. Donating some of it to charities or to fund special projects and philanthropy is certainly a good thing. But as Jesus said you are prioritizing money over God. As he said: "Ye are in the world, but not of the world." Even the early Christians knew possessions was a bad thing. They pooled their things together in a communal living situation, where everything was shared with others (an early example of the Communist principle of collective ownership and the redistribution of wealth). Acts 2 44 And all that believed were together, and had all things common; 45 And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all [men], as every man had need. 46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, 47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved. Acts 4 32 And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any [of them] that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common. 33 And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all. 34 Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold, 35 And laid [them] down at the apostles' feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need. 36 And Joses, who by the apostles was surnamed Barnabas, (which is, being interpreted, The son of consolation,) a Levite, [and] of the country of Cyprus, 37 Having land, sold [it], and brought the money, and laid [it] at the apostles' feet."

You just need to remember that, when the time comes, even a second of repentance will grant you access to heaven. I hope you see that second coming and have the opportunity. |
